Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover all three visuals and include relevant figures, such as adults aged 18–64 at 51% and both fiction categories at 38%. However, the overview is vague: saying the charts have “distinct trends” does not identify the main patterns. Some details are also inaccurate or unclear. Children account for 22%, not the final group after adults aged 65 and over; the loans chart rises overall from about 15,700 to 21,700, rather than starting at 15,500 and ending at 21,000. The 2014–2016 figures are also misreported, and “children’s non-fiction had 6 and 13 percent” confuses two categories. State the key comparisons and overall loan trend clearly, then check each figure against its category.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the membership and loan information. This gives the reader some organisation, and sequencing phrases such as “To begin with” and “Furthermore” show an attempt to connect details. However, the overview does not actually summarise the main trends, and the body moves between age groups and loan categories in a crowded paragraph. Several connectors are used mechanically or do not express the relationship clearly, as in “followed by increased onwards.” Improve progression by grouping the two 2016 breakdowns separately from the time-series chart, and use clear comparisons and transitions to guide the reader through each set of data.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “category,” “approximately,” “increased,” and “loans,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the data difficult to interpret. For example, “age of family members” mislabels library members, “a little cutail” is not an appropriate description of a decline, and “there a spike onwards” does not clearly describe the later rise. Spelling errors such as “chicdren’s,” “fict on,” and “non friction” also reduce precision. Learn accurate chart language for proportions and trends, and proofread category names carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

There are attempts to combine information in longer sentences, but the response relies heavily on extended structures that are often faulty. For example, “Adults age 18-64 had highest percent which is about 51” lacks grammatical control, while “In 2014 there a spike onwards which loan is…” has missing verbs and an unclear clause structure. Articles, agreement, and verb forms are also inconsistent, as in “the number of loans was estimate” and “adults 65 and over take 12 percent.” Capitalisation and punctuation are not controlled consistently, including the all-capital presentation and missing spaces after commas. Use shorter, complete sentences first, then add complex clauses only when their grammar is secure.
