Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover all three visuals and provide a relevant overview: adults form the largest membership group, loans rise overall, and fiction leads the category table. Most figures are reported accurately, including the membership shares and the broad loan trend. However, the overview could identify the near-equal shares for children’s and adult fiction, and the account of the line chart is incomplete: it stops at 2015, omitting the final rise to about 21,700 in 2016. The description of the 2012–13 decline is useful, but the later recovery could be reported more precisely. These omissions and uneven development keep the summary from presenting all key features with consistent detail; prioritise the main comparisons and cover the full period.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the membership chart and loan information. This makes the visuals easy to identify, and sequencing the loan trend chronologically helps the reader follow its movement. Some links are less effective, however. “The table and bar chart give the information about the loans” is followed by a list and then a trend description, but the relationship between the two is not developed. Repeated “However” does not always signal a genuine contrast, and the final paragraph ends abruptly after the 2015 figure. Use clearer transitions such as “By contrast” only where appropriate, and finish the trend through 2016 to strengthen progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough task-related vocabulary to communicate the main information, including “proportion,” “categories,” “total amount,” and “decreased.” There is some useful variation in describing the trend, such as “went from” and “rise back.” However, several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural: “friction” for “fiction,” “non-friction” for “non-fiction,” “loan” where “loans” or “borrowings” is intended, and “majority of membership” for the share of members. Repetition of “loan” also limits precision. These noticeable errors sometimes make the reader pause, although the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Build a reliable set of chart-reporting collocations and check spelling of category labels before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a time comparison with “while,” so there is some structural variety. However, control is inconsistent, and several errors affect clarity. Examples include “majority of membership … was taken by adults,” which needs a clearer grammatical construction, and “from 2007 to 2011 the loan from increasing,” where the verb form is faulty. “However it rise back” also has an incorrect verb form, while “The loans of library has increased” has agreement and article problems. Punctuation and spacing are uneven, including a full stop before “from 2007.” Practise accurate past-tense trend descriptions and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
