Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify relevant features from all three visuals, including the 51% share of members aged 18–64, the 38% shares for children’s and adult fiction, and the rise in loans from about 15,700 in 2007 to over 20,000 in 2016. However, the overview is not consistently accurate or clear: the age chart shows member proportions, not loans, and the description of the trend after 2012 is confused. Loans did not remain static from 2010 to 2012, and the decline was mainly from 2011 to 2013, followed by a recovery. Some categories and comparisons are omitted, while phrases such as “dramatically increase” do not accurately describe a percentage share. Select the main patterns and report them precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to the charts, then to details and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Meanwhile” and “Furthermore” help signal movement between points. However, the progression is not always logical: the second paragraph shifts between loan categories and member ages, and the final paragraph repeats the general increase without adding a clear summary of the main features. Some connections are difficult to follow, particularly “then onward to 2011 a steady decline,” which conflicts with the preceding dates. Group the information by visual or theme, and use clear comparisons and time references so each paragraph develops one coherent point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “library members,” “categories,” “bar graph,” “decline,” and “steady.” This gives you a basic range for describing the visuals. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “loans granted,” “dramatically boost,” and “the decline in the adults their age,” which make the intended meaning less clear. “Dramatically” is also unsuitable for describing a category’s 38% share without a comparison over time. Spelling errors such as “dramarically” and “beacame” further reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of chart-description phrases and check spelling and word forms before finishing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, using clauses introduced by “while” and “where,” and the main ideas can generally be understood. However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb forms. For example, “which is called as Little Chalfont” has an incorrect relative-clause pattern, while “51% … are the adults which is belongs” contains agreement and verb-form problems. The sentence beginning “The year 2008 to 2010 steadily rose up” also gives the years an unclear grammatical role. Use shorter, controlled sentences first, then practise accurate comparisons such as “Loans rose from … to …” and “Adults aged 18–64 made up …”.
