Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover the main features of all three visuals: the age profile, the 2016 loan categories and the overall trend in loans. Your overview identifies fiction as the leading category and notes that total loans rose over the period. Several comparisons are accurate, including the 51% share of adults aged 18–64 and the equal 38% shares for children’s and adult fiction. However, the age figures are confused: the 13–17 group is 15%, while the 65-and-over group is 12%, not the reverse as stated. The trend is also simplified as a steady increase, although loans fluctuate after 2011. These relevant details support the response, but more precise reporting and a fuller account of the trend would strengthen it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable sequence: an introduction, an overview, and then details about membership and loans. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, the paragraphing is not clearly developed, and the final sentence combines several comparisons in a way that makes the information difficult to follow. Linking words such as “furthermore” and “whereas” are used, but some connections are awkward or do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. For example, the shift from the age groups to the loan figures is abrupt. Organise the details into separate paragraphs by chart, and use simpler, more precise transitions to make the progression clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “library members,” “total number of loans,” “percent,” and “category,” so the main subject is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more varied wording, such as “most famous” and “worst performing,” but these are not natural choices for describing chart data; “largest share” and “smallest proportion” would be more precise. Spelling errors, including “caliberated,” “heigest,” “adove,” and “respectivly,” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. “Book genera” is also an unsuitable word choice. Aim for accurate, conventional chart language and check spelling carefully; this would make your vocabulary more effective without requiring unnecessarily complex terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “whereas” and an overview beginning with “Overall.” However, control is uneven, and errors in sentence construction and punctuation sometimes make the meaning harder to follow. The opening sentence has an unnecessary comma after “illustrate,” while “the measurement in former chart is…” lacks clear grammatical structure and uses unclear reference. In “Adults ranging from 18 to 64 are almost half,” the phrasing does not form a natural comparison, and the final sentence contains several ideas joined together without clear boundaries. Practise accurate articles, sentence boundaries and parallel comparisons, while keeping complex sentences manageable. More consistently controlled structures would improve clarity.
