Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the three sources of information and report some relevant figures, including the 51% adult membership share and the 38% shares for both fiction categories. However, the response only partially summarises the charts: it gives no clear overview of the main patterns, and the loans trend is reduced to a few figures without describing its fluctuations. Some data are inaccurate: young adults account for 15%, not 14%, and loans were about 15,700 in 2007, 21,200 in 2015 and 21,700 in 2016, rather than the rounded figures given. The final sentence is cut off, leaving the trend incomplete. The response is also three words below the required minimum. Include a concise overview and select the most important comparisons accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response, moving from membership figures to loan categories and then to the decade-long trend. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Moreover” help signal these shifts. However, the opening repeats that the information comes from charts, rather than giving an overview, and the paragraphing and progression are limited. Several ideas are crowded into long sentences, while phrases such as “according to their group” do not clarify the comparison. The response also ends abruptly at “im,” which interrupts the flow and leaves the final point unfinished. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and key details, and connect comparisons more precisely rather than relying mainly on numbered transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “total loans,” “category,” “fiction,” and “percentage,” so the reader can identify the subject of most points. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “the miximum persentage of fiction … is made 38%” and “a little chnged.” Spelling errors, including “persentage” and “chnged,” also reduce clarity. Repetition of “total” and “given” makes the description less precise. Aim to use standard chart language and accurate forms, for example, “accounted for,” “share,” “increased,” and “remained relatively stable.” This would make the comparisons easier to understand without requiring more complicated vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, but grammatical control is inconsistent and errors sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “The given charts illustrates” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “Firstly, there four group” is missing a verb and has an incorrect plural form. The opening phrase “illustrates about” is not a complete grammatical pattern, and “the total number of loans … described that its 16000” has problems with verb form and sentence construction. The final sentence is incomplete. Use straightforward, complete sentences first, checking agreement, articles, and verb forms; then add a few controlled comparisons using forms such as “rose from … to …” and “stood at ….”
