Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given charts illustrate the information about a public library located in a town called Little chalfont.

Overall, more than half active members of library in 2016 are adults from age 18 to 64. In additon to that, there are 7 different categories of loans listed in the corresponding year of 2016. The bar chart depicts the number of total loans commencing from year 2007 to 2016.

Firstly, The pie chart compares the number of members according to their age, where numbers of children is least among all other age groups as there are only 12 children listed as a member. At the same time young adults from age of 13-17 and adults over 65 are accounted for 27 members. On the other hand more than half of the total members are adults of age 18-64.

Secondly, according to the table graph the proportion of adult and children fiction is the same as both listed at 38% of the total loans. Where other categories like adult and children's non-fiction is accounted for one fifth of the total number. Subsequently children's dvds, young adults and adult audio books are totaly stands for only 5% of total loans.

Thirdly, The bar chart reavels the number of members from the year 2007 to 2016. Where the number of members are only of just above 15000 in 2007. The seems to be positive and static afterwards as after some fluctutations the aquair the numbers of nearly 22000 people as a member at the end in the year 2016.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover all three visuals and give a relevant overview, identifying the dominance of adults aged 18–64 and the equal 38% shares for adult and children’s fiction. Several figures are reported accurately, including the 12% children’s membership share and the rise in loans from just over 15,000 to about 22,000. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: children are not the smallest membership group (the 65-and-over group is 12%, compared with 22% for children), and the non-fiction categories total 19%, not one fifth exactly. Most importantly, the final chart shows loans, not members. The overview and coverage are relevant, but some features need more precise selection and reporting.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the membership chart, loan categories, and trend chart. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Thirdly” make the progression easy to follow, and the reader can identify which visual each paragraph discusses. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent arrangement and shows some of the stronger control associated with more flexible organisation. However, these transitions are somewhat mechanical, and sentence openings such as “Where…” create incomplete links to the preceding ideas. The overview also lists chart features rather than synthesising the main comparisons. Use more natural transitions and connect related figures within complete, logically linked sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “categories,” “fluctuations,” and “accounted for,” so the main information is generally understandable. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “table graph,” “positive and static,” and “aquair the numbers.” There are also spelling errors, including “additon,” “reavels,” and “totaly,” alongside inconsistent capitalisation of “Little Chalfont” and “DVDs.” These slips reduce precision, particularly when describing the trend and the chart types. Aim for accurate, conventional expressions such as “the table,” “the number of loans rose overall,” and “reached approximately 21,700,” and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “where” and “as,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. Some grammatical errors remain, however. For example, “numbers of children is least” has problems with number agreement and sentence construction, while “young adults … and adults over 65 are accounted for 27 members” does not clearly express the combined percentage. The sentence beginning “Where other categories…” is a fragment, and “the number of members are” has subject–verb disagreement. Tense and reference also become unclear in the final paragraph, where the chart’s loans are described as members. Build complete sentences, check singular/plural agreement, and keep the subject and time reference consistent.
