Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The given pie chart, table and bar graph illustrate the information about the age of library members, total loans by category in 2016 and the total number of loans taken from the 2007 to 2016.
Overall, the maximum value of library members were adults, the children's fiction and adult fiction shared highest percentage of total loans in 2016 and 2007 is the year in which the number of loans taken is minimum and 2016 contributed to the maximum value of loan taken by the little chalfont library.
According to the survey taken in 2016, the maximum age of library members were adults from 16 to 64, moderate were children and young and lowest were adults and over 65
On the other hand, children's fiction and adult fiction had taken equal number of loan in 2016, 38%, 6% loan taken by children's non fiction, 13% were adult non-fiction, 2% were young adults and adult audio books. In addition, children's DVDs have 1%.
Moreover, 2007 is the year in which the total number of loan is lowest, next year it rose above 15,000 then since 2009 it remained same. Following this, a significant increased number of loan increased over next 3 years then, in 2013 it dropped, again rose till 2016.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You cover all three visuals and provide a clear overview: adults form the largest membership group, the two fiction categories lead loans, and the total is highest in 2016 and lowest in 2007. Most category percentages are reported accurately. However, there are important inaccuracies in the age description: the chart gives adults aged 18–64 as 51%, children as 22%, young adults as 15%, and those aged 65+ as 12%; “adults from 16 to 64” is incorrect, and “moderate” does not clearly identify the second-largest group. The loan trend is also too general: 2008 and 2009 are both about 19,000, followed by a rise to 2011, fluctuations thereafter, and a final increase. More precise comparisons would strengthen an otherwise relevant, well-focused summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an overview to membership, loan categories, and the decade-long trend. Paragraphing helps separate the main data sets, and linking expressions such as “On the other hand” and “Moreover” signal transitions. This gives the report a coherent overall arrangement. However, some connections are mechanical or not quite logical: “On the other hand” introduces another set of figures rather than a contrast, while “Following this” and “then” make the trend description feel like a sequence without clearly showing its fluctuations. The membership paragraph is also brief and unclear, so progression is uneven. Use more precise links and organise each paragraph around a clear comparison or trend.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “total loans,” “percentage,” “fiction,” “non-fiction,” “rose,” and “dropped,” so the main information is generally understandable. However, the range and control are limited, with repeated or imprecise expressions such as “maximum value,” “number of loan,” and “taken.” Some combinations sound unnatural, for example “a significant increased number of loan increased,” and “moderate were children and young” does not communicate the ranking clearly. There are also inconsistent forms such as “children's non fiction.” Aim for concise, accurate chart language: describe proportions as “accounted for,” totals as “loan figures,” and changes as “increased” or “declined.” More precise vocabulary would make comparisons easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a compound overview and a sequence describing changes over time. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors recur in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction. For example, “the maximum value of library members were adults” has a singular subject with a plural verb, while “the number of loan is lowest” needs a plural noun and a consistent past-tense form. The phrase “a significant increased number of loan increased” also shows problems with word form and sentence structure. Some sentences omit necessary grammatical elements, as in “moderate were children and young.” Practise building clear subject–verb sentences and checking tense and agreement, especially when reporting figures and trends.
