Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover all three visuals and identify several key features: adults aged 18–64 are the largest membership group, fiction leads the loan categories, and total loans rise overall despite fluctuations. The figures for the age groups and category shares are generally accurate, including the combined 37% for children and young adults. Your overview is relevant, though “a significant number in 2016” is vague; the chart shows loans reaching their highest point, about 21,700, that year. The trend description also needs more precise comparisons: loans peak at about 21,000 in 2011, fall to around 19,600 in 2013, then recover. This covers the task well, but some features—especially the loan trend—are less fully reported than the others.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of membership, loan categories, and yearly totals. This makes the information easy to locate. However, connections between ideas are sometimes mechanical or unclear. For example, “However” begins paragraphs where no contrast is needed, and the first sentence’s “whereas … although” combines relationships awkwardly. Some sentences also carry too many figures and comparisons, particularly the long sentence about loan categories, which makes the progression harder to follow. Use simpler links such as “In addition” or “By contrast” only when the relationship warrants them, and divide dense comparisons into shorter sentences. Paragraphing is helpful, but clearer sentence-level sequencing would strengthen cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “fluctuated,” “constituted the least proportion,” “category,” and “gradually,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal reporting language, such as “made up” and “contributed.” However, several choices are imprecise or unnatural: “significant number” does not clearly describe the highest loan total, “most popular” is not quite the same as the largest share, and “showed around 19000 numbers” is an awkward collocation. Spelling slips such as “libaray,” “wherase,” and “graduall” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise chart language—“accounted for,” “stood at,” and “reached a peak”—and check spelling during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex structures, including a comparison with “whereas” and time clauses such as “before … till 2011.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “the children and and young adults … shared” has a repeated conjunction and an unclear subject, while “These numbers started increased” uses an incorrect verb pattern; write “started to increase” or “began increasing.” There are also agreement and article problems in phrases such as “these number” and “the children fiction,” as well as punctuation issues where sentences run together. Build accuracy by checking subject–verb agreement, verb forms after “start,” and sentence boundaries, while retaining your attempts at varied structures.
