Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main features across all three visuals: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, the two fiction categories lead borrowing, and total loans rise overall despite fluctuations. The overview is relevant, and several figures are reported accurately, including the 38% shares for both fiction categories and the 2011 peak of about 21,000. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the membership figures are presented as visitor data, and the statement that young adults, adult audio books and children’s DVDs together make up 5% is not clearly distinguished from the separate 2%, 2% and 1% shares. The final figure is also given as 222,000 rather than approximately 21,700. More precise reporting of these details would make coverage more complete and reliable.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a summary of the main features, and paragraphs covering the membership and borrowing categories before the trend chart. This makes the information easy to follow, and transitions such as “Overall,” “The 2016…” and “The bar chart shows” help signal shifts. The overview also groups related comparisons effectively. To make the progression more controlled, separate the membership and category data more clearly, since they are currently combined in one paragraph and the reference to the three smallest categories is difficult to interpret. Some linking is mechanical, and the final paragraph ends abruptly after the trend description. A more deliberate comparison of the later years would give the response a stronger sense of completion.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use a suitable range of vocabulary for describing charts, including “accounting for,” “making up,” “fluctuated,” “recovering” and “category.” These choices allow you to summarise proportions and trends without relying only on basic terms. There are, however, some imprecise or unnatural expressions: “library visitors’ data” does not accurately describe membership figures, “books borrow data” is awkward, and “least liked” suggests preference rather than borrowing volume. “222000” also appears to be a numerical slip that affects clarity. Aim for more precise chart language and consistent collocations, such as “members,” “loans” and “accounted for.” This would improve accuracy while retaining the useful range already shown.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including the overview sentence with several comparisons and the clause “reaching to around 21000 in the year 2011 before falling.” Most sentences communicate their main point, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “majority of the visitors are adults” needs an article, and “adults of age 65 and above” is an awkwardly formed age phrase. In “both children and adult fictions,” the plural construction is not controlled, while “Young adults , adults audio books and children's DVDs are least liked all constituting to 5% combine” has problems with punctuation and sentence structure. Review articles, agreement, and the construction of longer sentences; clearer sentence boundaries would make your comparisons more accurate.
