Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main features: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, fiction accounts for the largest loan shares, and total loans rise overall. Several figures are accurately reported, including the 51% adult membership share and the 38% shares for both fiction categories. However, the age figures are misassigned: children account for 12%, while young adults make up 15% and adults aged 65+ 22%. The overview also says loans fluctuated, but the description does not explain the key changes across the period, such as the rise from about 15,700 in 2007 to around 21,700 in 2016, with a dip after 2011. The final reference to “book borrowers” also confuses loans with people. More precise reporting of the chart’s trends and categories would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the membership and loan information. This makes the main topics easy to follow, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “In addition,” and “From the bar chart” help signal progression. The overview provides a useful summary, but the final paragraph is very brief and does not develop the loan trend in a logical sequence; it would be clearer to describe the rise, subsequent fluctuations, and final high point. Some linking is also awkward or unnecessary, as in “Moreover” and “while” in the opening sentence. To strengthen cohesion, connect comparisons more precisely and ensure each paragraph develops its stated chart information rather than ending abruptly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “distribution,” “share,” “borrowed categories,” “fluctuated,” and “upward trend.” These choices generally communicate the intended meaning, but inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are noticeable. Examples include “fuction,” “flactuated,” “books loan,” and “book borrowers”; the last phrase is especially imprecise because the chart reports loans, not borrowers. “Total amount of loans” is understandable, though “total number of loans” is more natural for countable items. Aim for accurate, consistent terms such as “membership,” “loan category,” and “annual loans,” and check spelling carefully. This would make the vocabulary more precise and reduce moments where the reader has to infer your meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause in “Although total number of books loan had some ups and down but it experienced upward trend.” The meaning is mostly recoverable, but this construction combines “although” and “but” incorrectly and contains missing articles and plural forms. Other examples include “the largest share” without an article in some places, “reached at its peak,” and “at 2007,” where the sentence patterns and prepositions need correction. Commas are also misplaced in phrases such as “while, the table” and “share, followed.” There are enough understandable structures to convey the main points, but more consistent control of articles, agreement, plurals, and sentence boundaries is needed. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
