Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main categories and make a useful overall comparison: adults form the largest membership group, and children’s and adult fiction each account for the largest share of loans. However, several figures are misreported, which limits the accuracy of the summary. The age figures are percentages: adults aged 18–64 are 51%, children 22%, young adults 15%, and those aged 65+ 12%; your account assigns 51% to children and gives children 12%. The loan trend is not a steady rise: it fluctuates, falling after 2011 before increasing again, and the 2016 total is about 21,700, not merely “slight more than 20,000.” Covering all three visuals is a strength, but select and report the key data more accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction and overview to membership, loan totals, and category shares. This helps the reader recognise that you are discussing all three visuals. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and the overview repeats or blurs information rather than organising the main comparisons. For example, the sentence beginning “According to pie chart” gives the age groups in a confusing order and contradicts the earlier overview. Linking words such as “while” and “according to” are used, but connections between ideas are often awkward or incomplete. Use one paragraph for the overview and separate, logically ordered paragraphs for membership and loans; group related figures together and use clear references such as “By contrast” or “Meanwhile.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “majority,” “category,” “fiction,” “non-fiction,” and “steady increase,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning difficult to follow. Phrases such as “got equall and highest loan taken category” and “children took membership” are not natural ways to describe loan shares or membership proportions. There are also frequent spelling errors, including “libaaray,” “shws,” and “percet,” which reduce clarity. Aim for precise reporting language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a group as “accounting for” a percentage and say that a category “represented” a share of total loans.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to combine information using clauses and contrast, as in “while children were on second position,” but sentence structures are mostly simple and many attempts are not controlled. Errors in articles, agreement, tense, and sentence boundaries occur throughout: “The majority of members in libaray were Adults.while children…” needs clearer punctuation and sentence construction, while “Total number of loans … showed” lacks an article. The sentence about young adults also has no clear main verb. These problems sometimes make relationships between figures hard to understand. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use consistent past-tense reporting for the 2016 data. Check articles and punctuation when joining comparisons with “while.”
