Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the three visual elements and report several relevant figures, including the 51% share of adults aged 18–64, the two leading loan categories at 38%, and the low shares for children’s DVDs and young adults. However, the overview is not sufficiently informative: it mainly says what the charts show rather than summarising the main patterns. The trend description also misrepresents the data. Loans rise from about 15,700 in 2007 to around 21,700 in 2016, with fluctuations; they are not consistently between 15,000 and 20,000 from 2008 to 2015. The age figures are also confused: 12% refers to members aged 65 and over, not the smallest group overall, since young adults account for 15%. Select the key comparisons and describe the trend more accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response is arranged in a generally understandable order: it discusses the membership chart, the loan categories, and then the yearly trend. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, the final paragraph repeats the task context instead of providing a useful overview, so the response lacks a strong opening summary and clear progression from the main features to supporting details. Some linking is also awkward or unclear, particularly “The bar graph illustrates… Where the highest loans…” and “Moreover, from 2008 to 2015 where is not…”. Use a concise overview near the beginning, then group related comparisons together and connect sentences with accurate, natural transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary such as “members,” “category,” “portion,” and “loans,” and the reader can usually understand which chart or data group you mean. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, including “loans taken,” “significate change,” and “the highest loans are taken.” Repetition of “shows” and “loans taken” also makes the description less precise. Spelling errors such as “childern” and “dvds” further reduce accuracy. Aim for standard chart language and precise verbs, for example, say that loans “rose,” “fluctuated,” or “accounted for” a proportion. Check spelling and use consistent forms such as “children’s fiction” and “non-fiction.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response communicates its basic meaning through mostly simple statements, but control is uneven and attempts to connect clauses often produce faulty sentences. For example, “The pie chart illustrates the age of library members, nearly half of the members are adults” joins two independent clauses with only a comma. “Where the highest loans are taken in 2016” is a fragment, while “which are all around 15000 to 20000” has unclear reference and agreement. There are also errors in verb forms and sentence construction, as in “the lowest loans are take in 2007.” Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use accurate past-tense forms when describing the 2007–2016 data. Vary sentence patterns only after these basics are secure.
