Student answer (Band 6.0)
The charts summarizes the information of the public library namely Little Chalfont. The pie chart presents the age of library members, and the table shows the overall loans by book category in 2016. While the bar graph compares the overall amount of credits in 2007 to 2016.
Overall, adults were the number of members of the library, while older adults are the least members. Significantly, the most borrowed books were children and adult fiction books, while children's DVDs are the least borrowed. The overall loans from 2007 to 2016 had an increasing then decreased trend, but was able to slowly rose up in 2016.
The little chalfont library had members categorized to children, adults (18-64), young adults (13-17), and adults (65 and older). Among the four, adults aging 18-64 were the most library members with more than half of the population, with 51%. Next was children with almost three-fourths of the population, with 22%. Young adults, with 15%. Only less then 3%, comes last are the older adults, with 12%.
The most number of borrowed books was children's and adult's fiction, both with 38%. While the least borrowed book was the children's DVDs, only 1% of the population borrows this book. In 2007, the bar graph shows that more than 15,000 loans were record. This grew to more than 20,000 loans after 4 years. After a year, it slowly decreases until 2013, with less than 20,000. Fortunately, they recover to almost 22,000 loans in 2016.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main features across all three visuals: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, fiction accounts for the largest loan shares, and loans rise overall across the period despite a mid-period dip. The overview is relevant, and several figures are accurately reported, including 51%, 38% and 1%. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: adults aged 65 and over are 12%, not “less than 3%,” and children make up 22%, not “almost three-fourths.” The trend description also simplifies the fluctuations; loans peak at about 21,700 in 2016 after varying between roughly 19,000 and 21,200. More precise comparisons and a clearer account of the changing totals would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, an overview and paragraphs that group membership data separately from borrowing information. This makes the main points easy to locate. You also use basic linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Next,” and “After a year” to guide the reader. At times, however, the progression is less smooth: the final paragraph moves from category shares to the loan trend without a clear transition, and “While the least borrowed book…” is a fragment rather than a complete linked sentence. Some references, such as “they recover,” are not fully clear. Use complete sentences and more explicit transitions between the table and graph details.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “categorized,” “borrowed,” “population,” “increasing,” and “decreases,” so the visuals are generally understandable. However, several choices are imprecise or unnatural for describing these data. “Overall amount of credits” does not accurately describe library loans, and “the number of members” is awkward in “adults were the number of members.” The repeated use of “most” and “least” also limits precision. There are word-form and spelling errors, including “less then” and “record” where “recorded” is needed. Aim for standard chart language such as “proportion,” “accounted for,” and “loan total,” and check spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “while” and time clauses such as “After a year.” Most of the intended meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “The charts summarizes” has subject–verb disagreement, while “the overall loans … had an increasing then decreased trend” has faulty verb forms and structure. “Only less then 3%, comes last are the older adults” is difficult to follow because the clause is incomplete and the verb pattern is incorrect. There are also tense and agreement problems in “the least borrowed book was … only 1% of the population borrows this book.” Improve control of agreement, complete sentence structure and consistent past-tense reporting.
