Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several relevant headline features: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, adults aged 65 and over the smallest, and children’s fiction accounts for a large share of loans. However, the report only partly covers the charts. It misidentifies the lowest loan category: children’s DVDs are lowest at 1%, not adult audio books. It also says loans “grew over time,” although the line fluctuates, and gives no account of the overall pattern between 2007 and 2016. The 2016 total is described as around the middle of 25,000, which is inaccurate; it is approximately 21,700. To develop the response, give a clear overview of the main trends and compare the key figures accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response, moving from a general statement to details about membership, loan categories and the bar chart. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the opening sentence is unclear and the chart references (“In graid” and “In bar-digram”) do not create clear links between ideas. Several points are repeated, such as the largest and smallest age groups, while the line chart’s trend is not explained. Use a clear overview paragraph followed by one paragraph for the membership and loan-category charts and another for the time series. More precise referencing and simple transitions would help readers understand how each detail relates to the task.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “percentage,” “total numbers of loans,” “age group” and “recorded,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning awkward, such as “numbers of flow in library,” “category of age group flow” and “it is grew over time.” Spelling errors—including “repersents,” “mimumm,” “childern’s” and “graid”—also reduce clarity. Aim for accurate, conventional chart language rather than repeatedly using “highest” and “lowest”: for example, describe a group as “accounting for” a share or a figure as “rising” or “fluctuating.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer constructions, but control is inconsistent, and faulty sentence structures sometimes make the information hard to interpret. For example, “The following information repersents about the information…” has an incomplete, repetitive structure, while “it was adults 18-64 rounded 51 people” lacks a clear grammatical relationship between the group and its figure. The phrase “it is grew over time” also combines incompatible verb forms. Articles, sentence boundaries and punctuation need more consistent control. Practise writing direct comparisons with a clear subject and verb, such as “Adults aged 18–64 made up 51% of members,” and check each sentence for a complete, correctly formed clause.
