Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the three visuals and make a relevant attempt at an overview, noting that adults form the largest membership group and that adult and children’s fiction account for the largest loan shares. However, the response addresses the task only partially: it stops before reporting the other age-group figures, the remaining loan categories, or the trend across the years. The statement that the final year was “at the top” is broadly accurate, but the chart shows a rise overall with fluctuations, which is not explained. The only specific membership figure given, 51%, is correct. The response is also below the required 150 words, leaving too little detail to summarise and compare the main features. Develop the overview and include selected figures from all three visuals.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and the beginning of a detail paragraph. This gives the reader some sense of the task’s organisation. However, there is no clear progression through the information because the response ends before the details are developed, and the three visuals are compressed into one long overview sentence. Linking expressions such as “Overall” and “Followed by” are attempted, but “Followed by” does not connect the clauses clearly, and “whereas” is awkwardly placed. Organise the body into focused paragraphs—for example, membership and loan categories together, followed by the loan trend—and use clear comparisons to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “library members,” “categories,” “percentage,” and “total loans,” so the topic is generally clear. There is also an attempt to vary wording with “indicates,” “represents,” and “recorded.” However, the range is limited, and several choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “bar chat” and “members of age.” “In large amount” is also an imprecise way to describe a proportion, while “last year recorded at the top” does not express the chart’s peak naturally. Use precise terms such as “proportion,” “share,” “accounted for,” and “fluctuated,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a sentence beginning “Overall” that links information from all three visuals. However, control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “The pie chart, bar chart and table illustratest” has subject–verb disagreement, and “in which the highest members of age were adults” is not a well-formed clause. The long overview sentence also has unclear clause boundaries and punctuation, particularly around “whereas.” The final sentence is incomplete, ending after “with 51%” without finishing the comparison or thought. Practise accurate agreement, complete sentences, and shorter structures that clearly connect each chart feature.
