Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response recognises that the visuals concern Little Chalfont Library and mentions some relevant figures, including 38% for both fiction categories and 51 for adults aged 18–64. However, it does not accurately summarise the main features across all three visuals. The age groups are confused in “children, young, adults 13 to 17, adults 18 to 64,” and the loan trend from 2007 to 2016 is not described at all. The claim that 51 is a trend over time also misreads a membership percentage as a time-series figure. Several comparisons, such as the smallest loan categories, are unclear or inaccurate. To strengthen the report, give a clear overview and select accurate comparisons from the age profile, loan categories and yearly totals.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response with an introduction, an overview-like paragraph, supporting statements and a concluding sentence. Connectors such as “Overall,” “In addition,” and “To sum up” show an effort to guide the reader. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the response moves between age groups, loan percentages and the time-series graph without clearly separating or explaining them. References such as “this trend” and “the first … and other” do not make clear which figures are being discussed. The conclusion largely repeats earlier points rather than synthesising the data. Use one paragraph for the overview and separate paragraphs for the membership and loan information, with explicit references to each chart.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response attempts some task-relevant vocabulary, including “categories,” “percentage,” “highest,” and “trend,” and uses phrases such as “the most noticeable change” to describe data. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or awkward: “steady pattern” does not describe the varied figures, while “highest trend” is not a natural way to identify the largest share. Spelling errors such as “Tge,” “Studing,” “petterns,” “catagories,” and “chlidren” are noticeable and reduce clarity. Some wording also obscures the intended comparison, particularly “the first is 15 and other is 12.” Build a more precise chart vocabulary and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a few longer structures, for example “Studing the figures closely makes it possible to compare…” and “highlighting major changes…,” but most sentences rely on simple patterns, and several are incomplete or difficult to interpret. In “in this data represnts by precentage,” the sentence lacks a clear subject and correctly formed verb; “the most noticeable change was in adult fiction which were 38%” also has faulty agreement and sentence construction. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including the lowercase start after a full stop and missing spaces after sentence-ending punctuation. Aim for clear, complete sentences with a subject and verb, and use accurate forms such as “accounted for 38%” when reporting a share.
