Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify relevant features, including the largest membership group (adults aged 18–64) and the high share of children’s fiction loans, and you attempt an overview. However, the response only partially covers the charts: it gives no specific figures or comparisons for the loan trend beyond saying loans increased, although the data fluctuates and ends higher than it began. The statement that adult fiction also accounts for 38% is omitted, as are other useful category figures. The age figures are mostly reported accurately, but the overview’s claim that adults were more interested in becoming members is not a precise description of the proportions. The response is 119 words, below the 150-word minimum, which limits its coverage and development.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic sequence: an introduction, an overview, then details about membership, loan categories and total loans. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is organised, and phrases such as “Overall” and “On the other hand” signal relationships between points. However, the progression is limited, with each chart treated very briefly and the final trend statement left unsupported. Some connections are unclear: the contrast between adults’ membership and children’s fiction loans is not fully explained, and “while” joins figures without making their comparison precise. Use separate, clearly developed paragraphs for the overview and chart details, and connect each comparison explicitly to the relevant data.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “category,” “members” and “loans,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions make the report less clear, such as “intrested to became,” “remained the highest proportion” and “intrested to readings the book.” Some wording is also imprecise: “adults people” and “young aged people” do not describe the age groups naturally. Aim for accurate collocations and concise chart language, for example, “accounted for,” “made up” and “the number of loans fluctuated.” Proofread spelling carefully, particularly in repeated key terms such as “library,” “children’s” and “time.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a few longer structures, including the sentence beginning “Adults, between 18 to 64…” and the contrast introduced by “while,” but control is inconsistent. Subject–verb agreement is faulty in “The pie chart, tabel and bar chart illustrates,” and the phrase “adults people were more intrested to became” contains errors in sentence construction and verb form. The age comparison also lacks a clear grammatical structure, making the relationship between the groups difficult to follow. Most sentences are simple or incomplete, and the final sentence has no full stop. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then add controlled comparisons using forms such as “Adults aged 18–64 accounted for…” and “whereas the figure for…”.
