Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main features of all three visuals: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, fiction accounts for the largest loan shares, and total loans rise overall. The comparison of children’s and adult fiction at 38% each, and the low share for children’s DVDs, is relevant. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the smallest membership group is people aged 65 and over at 12%, not simply “old age people,” and the graph’s lowest point is 15,700 in 2007, while the 2016 total is about 21,700 rather than nearly 23,000. The overview also says loans “fluctuated” without describing the modest dips and recoveries. More precise reporting of the figures and trend would make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable introduction, overview, and body, and it uses signposts such as “Overall,” “Firstly,” and “Lastly” to guide the reader. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the final body paragraph refers to the graph as “the table,” and the conclusion introduces no useful summary, instead saying that the information “has faced with numerous fluctuations.” Several ideas are repeated, including the highest and lowest categories, while the graph is described in more than one place without a clear sequence of its changes. Group the membership and category data together, then describe the loan trend chronologically, and finish with a concise overview rather than a vague conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “age distribution,” “categorized,” “fictional,” and “fluctuations,” and the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing charts: “membership is acquired,” “book loans were taken,” and “issued for” do not express the data naturally. “Readers” is also not an accurate substitute for the number of loans, and “old age people” is an unsuitable label. Spelling and capitalisation errors, such as “callled” and “Little chalfont,” further reduce control. Prefer standard chart language such as “accounted for,” “made up,” “borrowed,” and “the number of loans,” and check spelling and category labels.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You try to use complex structures, including clauses with “which” and contrasts introduced by “when,” but control is uneven. For example, “The multiple charts provided illustrates” has subject–verb disagreement, while “which is callled Little chalfont” contains an incorrect verb form and poorly controlled clause structure. The sentence “the table has the highest number of book loans has been issued” combines incompatible constructions, making the relationship between the table and the data difficult to follow. Articles, plurals, and punctuation also need attention, particularly the missing spaces after full stops and commas. Build accuracy first with clear sentences such as “The table shows that adult and children’s fiction each accounted for 38% of loans,” then add complex clauses where you can control them.
