Student answer (Band 5.5)

The given charts are illustrating the information about a public library in a town called Little Chalfont. The pie chart is showing the age of library members in the year 2016 where the table is presenting the total loans by category in the same year. The Bar chart is depicting the information about the total number of loans during the period from 2007 to 2016.

The library users were usually the adults of age arount 18-64 years old contributing 51% of the memberes following by the children 21%. Youngesters of age 13-17 years using library were only 15% and the rest 12% were adults of 65 years old or more.

In the Library, loan was highly and equally taken on both childern's and adults fiction which was 38%. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover all three visuals and report several key figures accurately, including the 51% share of adults aged 18–64, the equal 38% shares for fiction, and the overall rise in loans to about 22,000 by 2016. However, the overview is not clearly separated from the details, and the trend description contains an important inaccuracy: loans did not decline to 19,000 in 2013; they were approximately 19,600. The statement that numbers “gradually raised” also oversimplifies a series with rises, a dip, and a later recovery. Some category descriptions are unclear, particularly “Similar load of 2% taken by young people and adults audio.” A clearer overview of the main patterns and more precise reporting would strengthen coverage.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response is arranged in a sensible sequence: an introduction, followed by paragraphs on membership, loan categories, and the decade-long trend. This makes the different visuals easy to locate. You also use linking expressions such as “following by,” “then,” and “after that” to show relationships. However, some connections are mechanical or awkward, and the final paragraph’s sequence is difficult to follow because it combines several changes in one long sentence. The overview is not clearly signposted, while phrases such as “moreover after that” do not express the relationship naturally. Use a distinct overview and divide the trend into clearer stages, with accurate references to the years and figures.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for describing charts, including “contributing,” “remained constant,” “declining,” and “increase gradually.” These choices show an attempt to vary language rather than repeat “went up” throughout. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “loan was highly and equally taken,” “fell on the second number,” and “shifted to increase.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “arount,” “memberes,” “childern’s,” and “hihest,” which reduce the precision of the report. Aim for standard chart language and check spelling carefully; accurate phrases such as “accounted for,” “ranked second,” and “recovered” would make comparisons clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including relative clauses and time clauses, as in “where the table is presenting…” and “then rose to 19,000 in 2008 and remained constant in 2009.” The main meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “The given charts are illustrating” uses an awkward tense, and “the rest 12% were adults” needs a more accurate grammatical construction. Several sentences also have faulty or incomplete structures, particularly “Similar load of 2% taken by young people and adults audio.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries need attention in the long final paragraph. Practise concise, complete sentences and consistent past-tense reporting to improve accuracy.
