Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several relevant features, including the largest membership group, the equal 38% shares for children’s and adult fiction, and the 13% share for adult non-fiction. However, the overview is incomplete: adults aged 18–64 make up 51%, not simply “approximately half,” and the remaining groups are not clearly quantified. The loans chart is also misreported: the peak is about 21,700 in 2016, while the lowest figure is about 15,700 in 2007; 2011 was around 21,000, not the highest, and the sentence does not state the minimum year or value. The response is also 7 words below the required minimum. Include the main trend and accurate high and low points to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the loan categories and yearly totals. This helps the reader distinguish the different visuals. However, progression is weakened by the very brief final paragraph, which gives an inaccurate peak and an incomplete comparison, and by unclear references such as “left of the part.” Linking words such as “Additionally” and “Subsequently” are used, but the latter does not express a clear sequence between the category figures. Group the information more logically and use explicit comparisons—for example, contrast the two 38% categories with the smaller shares, then describe the loans trend from its low point to its peak.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “category,” “contribution,” and “identical percentage,” and the reader can generally understand which chart features you mean. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “total taken loans taken” is awkward, “dominated by the age group” is not a natural way to describe membership, and “left of the part” is unclear. Spelling errors such as “depits,” “Approximetly,” “adutls,” and “higest” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise chart language and check spelling; phrases such as “accounted for,” “the largest share,” and “the lowest total” would make comparisons clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of sentence forms, including an overview sentence and comparisons using “while,” and most of the intended meaning remains understandable. However, errors in sentence construction and agreement occur in several places. For example, “children's fiction and adult fiction shares” needs a plural verb (“share”), while “Adult non fiction have contribution” has faulty agreement and an incomplete grammatical pattern. The final sentence repeats “number of loans were” and does not form a clear comparison. Articles and plural forms are also inconsistent, as in “In the category of total loan.” Practise building accurate comparison sentences and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence completeness.
