Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify some relevant features, including the equal 38% shares for children’s and adult fiction, adult non-fiction at 13%, and the overall rise in loans to about 22,000 by 2016. However, the response only partially covers the charts: it gives no figures for the age profile of members, and the overview that children’s DVDs had the lowest share omits the other small categories. The loan trend is also inaccurately described as increasing every year; it fluctuated, including a decline after 2011 and another rise later. The response contains 143 words, below the required 150; the 11 words copied from the prompt are excluded. Include a concise overview and report the main features of all three visuals accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some organisation: the opening identifies the subject, the next section discusses loan categories, and the final section describes the trend over time. However, the progression is not consistently clear because the age chart is not addressed and the discussion shifts between categories and trends without a complete, planned structure. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “While,” “Although,” and “Henceforth” are attempted, but some are used inaccurately or do not clearly connect the ideas. For example, “Although” introduces a sentence that does not complete a clear contrast, while “Henceforth” does not suit the later movement in the figures. Use separate paragraphs for the overview, membership and loan categories, and the time series, with simpler, more precise links.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “categories,” “recorded,” and “gradually,” and the reader can generally identify the subject of each section. However, the range is limited and several word combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “has highest loan,” “small down in figures,” and “just waved around 20,000.” Repetition of “loan” and “proportion” also limits flexibility. Some choices make the intended meaning less clear, particularly “other categories … has slightly moderate loan.” Aim for accurate collocations such as “accounted for the largest share,” “fell slightly,” and “fluctuated around 20,000.” More precise vocabulary for describing chart movements and shares would make the report clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt longer sentences and use some subordinate clauses, but complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “Children’s fiction has highest loan,” which needs an article and a clearer noun phrase, and “other categories … has,” where the subject and verb do not agree. In “the number of loans significantly increasing,” the verb form is incomplete; use “increased significantly.” Several sentences are joined in ways that create fragments or run-ons, especially the final trend description. There is also inconsistent control of singular and plural forms and articles. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them with accurate clauses and punctuation.
