Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several important features: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, young adults the smallest, and adult and children’s fiction each account for the largest share of loans, while children’s DVDs are the smallest. However, the response only partially summarises the charts. It omits the line chart entirely, so the overall pattern in total loans from 2007 to 2016 is not reported. Some details are also inaccurate: children make up 22% of members, but the response calls this “the second one” without clearly identifying the comparison, and it says adults over 64 and young adults recorded 12 and 15 respectively, reversing their values. Include a clear overview of all three visuals and report the key figures accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic sequence: an introduction, an overview, then details about membership and loan categories. This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and phrases such as “Overall” and “In term of total loans” signal shifts in focus. However, the progression is limited because the line chart is not discussed, and the final paragraph ends abruptly without a clear concluding comparison. Several links are unclear, particularly “the both adult fiction and children fiction following the same trajectory,” which does not explain that the two categories have equal shares. Improve paragraphing by grouping each chart’s key information and use precise references so comparisons are easy to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “highest proportion,” “lowest share,” “recorded,” and “category,” and you attempt to vary the wording rather than repeat “percentage” throughout. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “town name,” “following the same trajectory,” and “score the largest proportion.” Spelling errors, including “grpahs,” “belogns,” “perecentage,” and “showen,” are noticeable and sometimes make the text harder to read. Use standard terms such as “accounted for” or “represented” when describing shares, and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would also help distinguish membership figures from loan proportions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use basic comparison structures, for example, “while the lowest share was recorded…” and “while both adults over 64 and young adults…”. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “a town name Little Chalfont,” the missing space in “18-64has,” and the faulty construction “the both adult fiction and children fiction following the same trajectory.” The final sentence also lacks a complete, clearly controlled structure: “other category had smallest percentages from 2 perect to 13.” Work on articles, plural forms, subject–verb structure, and sentence boundaries. Shorter, complete sentences would help you express the comparisons accurately.
