Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You cover all three visuals and provide a clear overview: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, fiction leads the loan categories, and total loans peak in 2016. The membership figures and the main category percentages are accurately reported, including the equal 38% shares for children’s and adult fiction. The trend description also captures the overall rise, the dip in 2013 and the final peak. Some details are less fully reported: the small loan categories are grouped together without giving their individual percentages, and the 2010–2012 movement is described as rising despite a slight fall in 2012. More precise reporting of these details would make the account more fully supported and avoid slight over-generalisation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response is organised into a clear introduction, overview and separate paragraphs for the membership, loan categories and time series. This gives the reader a logical route through the three visuals, and sequencing phrases such as “followed by,” “Then” and “finally” help show comparisons and chronology. However, the repeated use of “Then” makes the final paragraph somewhat mechanical, and the sentence beginning “The total loans was highest” contains a punctuation break that interrupts the flow. The small categories are also bundled into a vague list rather than connected through a clear comparison. To strengthen cohesion, vary the transitions and use more precise links between figures, while keeping each paragraph focused on a distinct visual.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of task vocabulary, including “age distribution,” “accounted,” “contributed,” “fluctuation” and “peaked,” which helps communicate the main comparisons. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, however: “the age distribution of the members of a library who belongs” is cumbersome, “the highest number of loans were in 2016” is not a natural way to describe the chart, and “minor percentages” is imprecise. There is also a spelling error in “yound adults.” Aim for concise, conventional chart language such as “members aged…,” “loan volume reached a peak,” and “the remaining categories accounted for smaller shares.” More accurate collocations and careful proofreading would improve precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including comparisons and time clauses, and the overall meaning remains clear. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with subject–verb agreement and tense: “the table displays” is followed by “over these period,” “The total loans was,” and “Then, it drops off” after a past-time description. There are also errors in sentence construction and punctuation, as in “The total loans was highest, but equal in the categories…., to about 38%,” where the clause is awkwardly joined and punctuated. Articles and prepositions in phrases such as “contributed about 51% to total library members” also need more control. Check agreement, maintain past tense for the historical data, and proofread sentence boundaries.
