Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover all three visuals and provide a relevant overview: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, fiction dominates loans, and borrowing is broadly steady with a rise over the period. Several key figures are accurate, including 51% for adults aged 18–64, 38% for fiction in both adult and children’s categories, and the dip in 2013. However, the overview could be more precise: loans rise overall from about 15,700 to 21,700, rather than simply showing an increase “each year,” since there are several dips. The age figures are also misreported: children account for 22%, not merely the second-largest group without a figure, and the 65-and-over group is 12%, not 3% less than young adults. Explain the category shares more clearly to strengthen coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction and overview to membership and loan categories, then the borrowing trend. This gives the reader a sensible route through the three visuals, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “While considering,” and “Furthermore” help signal shifts. The progression is not always smooth, however. The sentence beginning “Furthermore, the total number…” is grammatically tangled, and the discussion of loan categories mixes age-group membership with borrowing shares, making the relationship between the figures unclear. Some transitions, including “Even though,” do not connect cleanly to the following clause. To make the organisation more effective, group each chart’s information distinctly and use precise references such as “this proportion” or “the loan total” rather than broad phrases like “the other types.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “accounting for,” “fluctuation,” and “dip,” which helps describe the visuals. However, word choice and collocation are often imprecise, and several expressions make the meaning less natural: “fiction being the intersted category,” “least important,” and “people taking books fom library.” “Books loaned” is repeated frequently, while “loan total,” “borrowing,” and “share of loans” would allow more variety. There are also spelling errors such as “intersted,” “abd,” “fom,” and “graadually.” Aim for accurate, conventional chart language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a category as “accounting for the largest share” rather than calling it “the most important.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “Even though” and a relative clause in “which…shows.” Some sentence structures communicate the main ideas, but errors in agreement, verb forms, and sentence construction recur. For example, “The three charts…reports” has a plural subject with a singular verb, while “adults accounts” and “adults…comprises” also show agreement problems. The phrase “the middle years from 2010-2012 and the last three years shows” has an unclear subject and mismatched verb, and “it the graadually shows” is not a complete grammatical construction. Improve control by checking each sentence’s subject and verb, and use shorter, complete sentences when describing several time periods or comparisons.
