Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You identify two relevant overall features: adults form the largest membership group, and adult and children’s fiction are the biggest loan categories. However, the response reports almost none of the chart information and gives no specific figures or meaningful comparisons. The statement that loans “slightly fluctuating” and peaked in 2016 is broadly consistent with the chart, but it does not describe the rise from 15,700 in 2007, the intervening changes, or the final total. The task’s 150-word minimum is not met, which leaves the summary substantially incomplete. To improve, cover all three visuals with selected figures and comparisons, and give a fuller overview of the main patterns.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic, understandable order: it introduces the visuals, gives an overall statement about membership and loan categories, and then mentions the trend in total loans. “Overall” helps signal the overview, so the reader can follow the limited information presented. However, the response is only a few short statements, with no developed paragraph structure or progression through the three visuals. The final sentence also combines a trend and a peak without explaining the stages. Organise the report into a brief introduction, an overview, and detail paragraphs, grouping related information and using clear links such as “By contrast” or “Over the period” where they genuinely clarify comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “library members,” “adult fiction,” “children’s fiction,” and “peak,” and the main meaning is generally recoverable. However, the range is very limited, and several phrases are imprecise or unnatural: “contribute to large percent of the loan” does not clearly express the categories’ shares, while “number of loan” is not an appropriate form for this context. The repeated use of “adult” and “children’s” also reflects the very short range of description. Build a more precise set of chart-reporting expressions, such as “accounted for,” “share of total loans,” and “membership age group,” and use them to describe the figures accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response uses simple sentence forms that communicate its general topic, and the opening sentence, “The figure shows information about a library in Little Chalfont,” is grammatically clear. However, there is little variety in structure, and errors appear in the short text. In “The number of loan was slightly fluctuating reach its peak in 2016,” the verb pattern is faulty: use a past-tense form such as “fluctuated” and connect the later action with “before reaching.” The phrase “contribute to large percent” also lacks an article before “large percentage.” Practise accurate past-tense descriptions and combine clauses with controlled linking structures; this will make the report clearer as well as more varied.
