Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover all three visuals and identify several important features: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, fiction accounts for the largest loan shares, and loans rise overall across the period. You also report many category percentages accurately. However, the overview contains a significant misreading: “staff” are not shown; the figures describe library members. The claim that loans were highest in 2011 is also incorrect, as the total continues to rise to its peak in 2016. The trend description later says loans increased “till 2012,” although the chart shows a fall after 2011 before further fluctuations. To strengthen the response, give a clear, accurate overview and select the main comparisons, especially the 2016 peak and the dominance of the two fiction categories.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about membership, loan categories, and the time series. This helps the reader locate information from each visual. However, progression is weakened by repetition: the similarity between children’s and adult fiction is stated in the overview and then repeated in the body. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, as in “The close picture of pie graph reveals,” and the final trend description is compressed into one long sentence. Organise the details into clearer paragraphs, avoid repeating the same comparison, and use precise transitions to show contrasts and changes over time. This would make the report easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “percentage,” “comprised,” “decrease,” and “trend,” and you attempt to describe comparisons such as “similar ratio.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. For example, “staff” is used instead of “members,” “loans were highly provided” is unnatural, and “close picture” does not clearly describe a chart. Spelling errors such as “Toal,” “follwed,” and “Chidren” are noticeable, while “ratio” is repeatedly used where “proportion” or “share” would be more suitable. Build a more precise set of terms for describing proportions, categories, and trends, and proofread spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “while” and “which,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in sentence boundaries, verb forms, articles, and agreement. For instance, “it increase till 2012” needs a past-tense verb, and “then trend go upward” needs an article and a correctly inflected verb. The opening sentence also joins ideas awkwardly, while several commas are placed directly after words without a following space. These problems sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to follow. Practise forming accurate past-tense descriptions and checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb; shorter, well-controlled sentences would improve clarity.
