Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover all three visuals and include relevant figures, such as adults aged 18–64 making up 51% of members and both fiction categories accounting for 38% of loans. You also identify the broad rise in loans over the period. However, the overview mainly describes what each visual shows rather than highlighting the main findings across them. Some figures are inaccurate or unclear: loans were about 21,000 in 2011, not 22,000, and the final value was about 21,700, not 230,000. The account of 2010 and 2012 also misstates the data. Select the most important comparisons and report the trend accurately, using approximate values where needed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of the membership and loan information. This makes the three visuals identifiable, and phrases such as “To begin with” and “On the other hand” help signal movement between topics. However, the overview repeats the chart types instead of giving a clear summary of the main patterns, and some transitions are mechanical or confusing. For example, “Moreover” introduces the table after the membership figures, while the sentence beginning “the number of loans remained stable” combines several years and trends unclearly. Group related figures and use clearer links to show comparisons and changes over time.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “constituted,” “fluctuated,” and “approximately,” and you distinguish categories such as “adult non-fiction” and “children’s DVDs.” However, the range and control are uneven, with repeated reliance on “data,” “figure,” and “number,” and several inaccurate or awkward expressions. “The data rice gradually” is unclear, while “remained same data” does not express the intended trend naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “chalfront” and “throught.” Use precise trend language and check spelling and collocations so the reader can understand each comparison without having to infer your meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer structures, including “Whereas, adults 65 and over…” and sentences that compare categories, but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in basic sentence formation and agreement: “The charts illustrates give” combines incompatible verb forms, “the pie chart show” lacks subject–verb agreement, and “the table is give” uses an incorrect verb pattern. Several sentences are fragments or run together, particularly “Whereas, adults 65 and over the smallest category at 12%.” Punctuation and spacing also make boundaries difficult to follow. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with correct verb forms and punctuation; this will make your comparisons clearer.
