Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main age-group pattern and note that fiction dominates loans, while the time-series description captures the broad rise from 2007 to 2016. However, the overview misstates the lowest loan category: children’s DVDs are the smallest at 1%, not the highest after fiction; adult non-fiction is 13%. The age figures are also omitted, and the trend is described too generally, with no clear distinction between the early rise, mid-period fluctuations and final peak. The response is 146 words, below the 150-word minimum; the 11 words copied from the prompt do not count. Add a few accurate comparisons and key figures to make the summary more complete and sufficiently developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure: an introduction, an overview and a paragraph describing the loan trend. This gives the reader a general route through the information, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Moreover” and “after that” show an attempt to connect points. However, the overview combines age membership, loan categories and the trend in a crowded sequence, while the final paragraph covers only the line graph. Some links are mechanical or do not clarify the relationship between figures, and there is little progression within the category comparisons. Organise the body into clearer groups—for example, membership and loan categories, followed by the yearly trend—and use precise references to connect comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “age group,” “total loans,” “category,” “increment” and “decrease,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “highest loan is accounted for,” “loan amount” and “the data shows the increment.” Repetition of “loan” and “number” also makes the account less precise. There are spelling and form issues in “childrens” and “thee,” and “DVD” is used where the chart category is plural. Build a more accurate range for describing proportions and trends, such as “accounted for,” “share,” “rose,” “fell” and “fluctuated,” while checking spelling and possessive forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a comparison in the overview and a sequence of changes in the final paragraph. However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well as longer clauses. For example, “there are highest number of members” lacks an article and has faulty agreement, while “the total number of loan is gradually increase” combines an incorrect singular form with an incorrect verb form. “The loan number is slightly decrease” has a similar verb-form problem. Punctuation and spacing are also unreliable, particularly around sentence boundaries and after “In addition.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, plurals and past-tense verbs before adding more complex structures.
