Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You cover all three visuals and provide a clear overview: adults aged 18–64 are the largest membership group, fiction leads the loan categories alongside the smallest DVD share, and total loans are highest in 2016. Most figures are accurately reported, including the 51% membership share and the equal 38% shares for children’s and adult fiction. The main limitation is that the trend description is over-generalised: loans did not remain simply stable after 2008, but fluctuated, reaching a low around 19,600 in 2013 before rising to 21,700 in 2016. Mentioning this pattern would make the overview and comparisons more fully supported. The response otherwise selects relevant features and addresses the task clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to an overview and then to supporting details. This gives the reader a clear general route through the information, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In addition,” and “Moreover” help signal relationships. However, the final paragraph combines membership figures, category shares, and the timeline without a consistently clear progression. Some links are mechanical or awkward, and the closing claim that loans were “relatively stable” does not clearly connect to the fluctuations described by the chart. Grouping the membership and category data separately from the loan trend, then using more precise transitions, would strengthen cohesion and make the progression more controlled.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “accounted for,” “share,” and “total number of loans,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited by repeated and sometimes inaccurate phrasing, especially “loans taken” and “share of loan.” Several collocations sound unnatural, such as “children fiction and adult fiction taken loan” and “same trend happen.” There are also spelling and word-form problems, including “hans” and “children DVDs.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main comparisons, but they reduce precision and fluency. Use standard reporting phrases such as “accounted for,” “made up,” and “the number of loans rose/fell,” and check possessives and category names.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons with “while” and “although”-type contrasts, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, grammatical errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. For example, “The pie chart illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “Table and bar chart describes” also needs agreement and articles. Phrases such as “adults with age 18-64 share” and “children’s fiction and adult fiction share the same percentage … that were 38%” show problems with sentence construction and verb forms. Articles, plurals, and punctuation are also inconsistent. Practise building accurate comparison sentences with a clear subject and verb, then proofread each sentence for agreement and tense.
