Student answer (Band 5.5)

The charts provides data for a public library over various factors. Firstly the pie illustrates the age of library members, Secondly the table provide detail of loan taken 7 differents categories, Finally the bar demostrates the amount of loan taken between 2007 to 2016 in the twon of Chalfont.

Overall, the half of people who ues the library are adult between the age of 18 to 64 while the young adults who visit library are 12 in number which were contribute a very little. The major loan was taken for children fiction and adult fiction and small amout of budget went for children DVCs and adult audio books. The amount loan taken from 2007 o 2016 has variation in trend while highest amount of loan was taken in 2016 and lowest was in 2007.

In 2016, half of library member ware adult, while number of children and young adult make two third of half are 22 and 12 recpectively while 15 adults over 65 also visit library and make one third of half. As major member are adult so large amount of load is taken for adult friction(38%), adult non-fiction(13%), and adult audio books(2%). while children were not in huge number but second highest number so loan for children friction was 38%, children non-fiction was 6% and children DVDs were 1% only. The only 2% loan was for young adults. The highest of load was taken in 2016 and 2011 of almost 22,000 and 21,500 respectively. The loan taken in 2007 was lowest about 16,000.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover all three visuals and provide an overview identifying the largest membership group, the leading loan categories, and the overall rise in loans by 2016. Several figures are reported accurately, including the 38% shares for both fiction categories and the 1% for children’s DVDs. However, some details are misread or unclear: young adults account for 15% of members, not 12, and the 12% figure is for members aged 65 and over. The claim that loans peaked in both 2016 and 2011 is inaccurate; 2016 is the highest, while 2011 is below it. The trend is also described only as having “variation,” without explaining its fluctuations. More precise comparisons and a clearer account of the line chart would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and a detail paragraph, and it moves through the three visuals in a broadly logical order. This gives the reader a coherent overall arrangement. However, progression within paragraphs is weakened by repeated information and unclear links. For example, the overview says the highest loans occurred in 2016 and the lowest in 2007, then the final paragraph repeats these points and adds the 2011 figure. Connectors such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Finally” are somewhat mechanical, while “while” is repeatedly used to join contrasting ideas without always making the relationship clear. Grouping membership data separately from loan categories and the trend would make comparisons easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “members,” “categories,” “fiction,” “non-fiction,” and “variation in trend,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range and control are limited, with repeated use of “loan taken” and imprecise expressions such as “small amount of budget went for” when describing percentages of loans. There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including “demostrates,” “twon,” “friction” for “fiction,” and “DVCs” for “DVDs.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. Aim for accurate collocations such as “accounted for,” “share of total loans,” and “number of loans,” and check spelling carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons with “while” and clauses beginning “as,” but grammatical control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in “The charts provides” and “the table provide,” while articles and sentence construction are problematic in “the young adults who visit library are 12 in number.” Some long sentences combine several ideas without clear punctuation, particularly the final detail paragraph, and capitalisation after full stops is inconsistent. These issues can make relationships between figures difficult to follow, although the general message is usually recoverable. Use shorter, complete sentences for data comparisons, check subject–verb agreement, and punctuate each comparison clearly.
