Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify several important features: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, fiction accounts for the largest loan shares, and total loans are highest in 2016. The overview also notes that borrowing was broadly stable, which captures the overall pattern. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the 51% figure is the share of members aged 18–64, not explicitly the share who “used” the library, and the 2007 total is about 15,700 rather than 15,500. The claim that children’s DVDs were lower than every other category overlooks that they were tied with young-adult loans and adult audio books at 1% versus 2% for the latter categories. Cover the membership figures more fully and describe the loan trend with clearer comparisons across its fluctuations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the 2016 breakdown and the loan trend. This makes the main topics easy to locate, and transitions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “Subsequently” help signal relationships. However, some connections are mechanical or imprecise. For example, “In 2007” begins a paragraph about the time series but then refers to “any other category,” which does not clearly identify the comparison. The overview’s “Total numbers of loans showed consistant results” is also vague, so the reader must wait for the final paragraph to understand the trend. Use clearer links between years and comparisons, and group the trend into its rise, fluctuations, and final peak.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for describing charts, including “dominant,” “contributed,” “identical,” and “approximately,” and the meaning is generally recoverable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision. “Individuals … took loan” and “number of loan takers” are awkward ways to describe borrowing, while “stagnant results” does not accurately express a series that rises and falls. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “catogries,” “chlidren,” “minimual,” and “stangant.” Aim for accurate chart language such as “members,” “loans,” “accounted for,” and “fluctuated,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “while” and a time clause beginning “until 2016.” Most of the intended meaning can be understood, but some grammatical errors recur. The opening should be “The charts illustrate,” and “the main user” needs plural agreement or a more suitable construction. Articles and prepositions are also problematic in phrases such as “between age range of 18 to 64” and “at 38%.” In “the number of people … were identical,” the singular subject “number” requires a singular verb. Punctuation spacing is inconsistent, particularly after full stops. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and article use, then proofread sentence boundaries and spacing.
