Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover all three visuals and identify the main patterns: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, fiction accounts for the largest loan shares, and loans rise overall across the period. Most figures are reported accurately, including the age proportions and category percentages. However, the overview is not fully precise: loans do not increase steadily, as they fluctuate after 2010, and the total in 2016 is about 21,700 rather than 23,000. The description of the table as divided into “three different categories” is also unclear, since it lists seven loan types grouped broadly by age. Develop the trend summary more carefully and distinguish the categories from their broader groups.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, moving from an introduction and overview to separate paragraphs on the charts and table. Sequencing phrases such as “Beginning with” and “Moving on to” help readers follow the description, and the main information is generally grouped appropriately. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent overall arrangement and shows some stronger control through paragraphing. To make progression more consistently clear, use more precise links between the overview and supporting details. For example, “the table shows it by categories” does not explain the relationship between the overall loan trend and the category breakdown. Some transitions are formulaic, and the age figures in the pie-chart paragraph are presented in a slightly confusing order; group each figure directly with its age label.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “majority,” “accounted for,” “proportion,” “fiction,” and “non-fiction.” These terms allow you to describe the visuals and make comparisons, and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, some inaccurate or awkward choices that reduce precision: “members in town public library age-wise” is unnatural, “loans into three different categories” misrepresents the table, and “elder people” is less suitable than a neutral age description. Spelling errors such as “considereably,” “yound,” and “larges” also affect accuracy. Aim for standard chart language such as “membership by age group,” “loan categories,” and “the largest share,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast in the overview (“whereas…”) and a time clause beginning “before experiencing.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors and awkward constructions are present. For example, “51 members in public library aged 18-64” lacks a clear verb, while “this figure continued to grew” uses an incorrect verb form; write “continued to grow.” The sentence beginning “Additionally, childrens and young adults…” is also incomplete, and “total loan is divided” does not agree naturally with the plural idea of loans. Improve sentence completeness, verb forms, and agreement, and use punctuation to separate the chart descriptions more clearly. These corrections would make your varied structures more controlled.
