Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover all three visuals and give a clear overview: adults form the largest membership group, fiction categories lead borrowing, and total loans rise overall. Most membership and category figures are reported accurately, including the 51% adult share and the 38% shares for both fiction categories. The trend description also captures the broad rise, but some details are imprecise: loans were about 15,700 in 2007, not 15,000, and the 2016 figure was about 21,700 rather than 20,500. The 2010–2012 period is grouped too broadly, and the 2014–2015 fluctuations are omitted. This is a relevant, well-selected account, but more precise support and fuller coverage of the line graph would make it more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response is organised into an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs, with the membership and borrowing categories grouped separately from the yearly trend. This gives the reader a generally clear route through the information. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast,” and “After that” help signal relationships, although “In contrast” is repeated where the second use does not establish a clear contrast, and some transitions feel mechanical. The sentence beginning “In contrast, Children fiction…” also runs directly into the next statistic without a space after the full stop. To strengthen progression, use more precise links between comparisons and divide the category data into clearer sentences; the overall organisation is sound, but cohesion is not consistently smooth.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of chart-reporting vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “made up,” “stood at,” “increased sharply,” and “slightly reduced.” These choices communicate the main comparisons and trends, and the meaning is generally clear. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive: “total loan by category” would be more natural as “loans by category,” while “take very less loan” is awkward. There are also spelling errors such as “contast,” “heighest,” and “amoung,” which reduce precision. Aim for accurate, natural phrases rather than adding complexity, and check spelling carefully. More varied terms for rises, falls and proportions would help you describe the graph with greater flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including comparisons and time clauses, and the main information remains understandable. However, errors occur in basic sentence construction and agreement: “The below charts illustrates” should be “The charts below illustrate,” and “the most borrowed category” should be plural when referring to two categories. Some sentences are incomplete or awkwardly joined, such as “While adults non-fiction accounted for 13% of loan,” and punctuation is inconsistent, as in “38%.While”. There are also problems with articles, plurals and tense consistency. These errors do not usually prevent understanding, but they limit accuracy. Build a reliable base with complete sentences, then check subject–verb agreement, articles and punctuation before adding more complex clauses.
