Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover all three visuals and provide a relevant overview: adults form the largest membership group, fiction leads the loan categories, and children’s DVDs account for the smallest share. Several figures are reported accurately, including the 51% adult membership and the two 38% fiction categories. However, some details are incomplete or imprecise. The membership figures are percentages, but the response does not mention the 15% share for young adults. The loan trend is broadly described, yet the 2007 figure is given as 16,000 rather than approximately 15,700, and the 2016 total is described as about 23,000 rather than approximately 21,700. The trend also fluctuates rather than increasing steadily. More precise reporting of these features would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs presenting details. This makes the main information easy to locate, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “In 2016,” and “after that” help signal progression. However, the final paragraph’s account of the loan trend is compressed, and “after that” does not clearly identify the years being compared. Some references are also awkward or unclear, such as “In this year” and “both children fiction and adult fiction,” which make the connections between ideas less smooth. To strengthen the organisation, group the membership and loan-category figures distinctly, then describe the loan trend in chronological stages using clear year references and comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing charts, including “ratio,” “categories,” “overall loans,” “gradual increase,” and “decrease.” These choices show an adequate range for the task, and the intended meaning is generally understandable. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “ratio of adults,” “membership of library,” and “amount of loans” are not the most suitable ways to describe these data. There are also spelling errors, including “consemed,” “childrem,” “percemt,” and “slit,” which reduce precision. Aim for standard chart language such as “proportion of members,” “share of total loans,” and “number of loans,” and proofread carefully for spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “but” and a time clause beginning “after that.” The overall meaning can usually be followed, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “children accounts” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “51% of membership … belongs” and “children has” use incorrect agreement and verb forms. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in “a public library in a Little Chalfont town” and “In 2007, 16000 of loan was given.” The final sentence joins several trend descriptions in a way that makes the structure difficult to control. Practise accurate agreement, articles, and plural forms, and use shorter sentences when describing changes over time.
