Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover the main elements of the charts and provide a relevant overview: adults aged 18–64 were the largest membership group, fiction categories had the highest loan shares, and total loans rose overall. Most category figures are reported accurately, including the 38% shares for both fiction types and the 1% share for children’s DVDs. The membership figures are also included, though they appear late and are not clearly compared. Some details are less precise: loans peaked at about 21,700 in 2016, rather than 23,000, and the 2011 figure was about 21,000. To strengthen the response further, report the membership proportions more clearly and describe the fluctuations in the loans trend with accurate approximate values.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable overall structure, with an overview followed by discussion of loan categories and the ten-year trend. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “To begin with,” and “turning to” help signal these sections. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the membership data are added at the end of the paragraph about loans, although they form a separate chart and would be easier to follow in their own paragraph. Some transitions are awkward or run together, as in “varied considerably.while” and “In addition…whereas.” Organise the body into distinct paragraphs for membership, loan categories, and the time trend, and use fewer, more precise links to show comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of task-appropriate vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “represented,” “proportion,” “stood at,” and “climbing.” These choices allow you to describe shares and changes, and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, several spelling and word-choice slips, such as “chicldren's,” “childre's,” and “dvd,” as well as awkward combinations like “reaching to the peak” and “the figures of total loans.” Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “represented” and “stood.” Check spelling carefully and choose more natural collocations; varying verbs such as “comprised,” “made up,” and “rose to” would make the report more precise and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “whereas” and a time clause beginning “before increasing.” The main comparisons and trends can usually be understood. However, errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb forms recur. For example, “the population of the members consist” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “children's DVDs represented the lowest proportion at 1%.In addition” needs a space and clearer sentence punctuation. The opening “the chart illustrates about” also has an incomplete grammatical pattern. Practise building accurate sentences around one main comparison at a time, and check agreement, articles, and punctuation before finishing.
