Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover all three visuals and provide a relevant overview: adults form the largest membership group, fiction leads the loan categories, and total loans rise overall. Most category figures are reported accurately. However, the overview says the total “had increased over the period” without noting the fluctuations, and the account of the line chart contains a significant inconsistency: it says loans fell below 20,000 in 2014, then says they rose above 20,000 “in 2014.” The chart shows about 20,700 in 2014, followed by increases to 21,200 and 21,700. Your description of the trend is therefore less precise than your coverage of the other data. A clearer overview and a carefully checked year-by-year account would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by details about membership and loan categories, then the trend in total loans. This makes the main information easy to locate. You also use linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Following the same,” and “On the other hand.” However, some transitions are mechanical or do not express the relationship accurately. “On the other hand” introduces another chart rather than a contrast, while “Whereas” does not connect smoothly to the preceding sentence. The final paragraph also repeats the 2014 figure in conflicting ways, weakening progression. Use simpler, more precise links such as “Turning to total loans,” and organise the trend into a clear rise, fluctuation, and final increase.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic vocabulary to describe the visuals, including “accounted,” “percentage,” “category,” “remained unchanged,” and “reached.” These choices generally communicate the intended information, and you attempt some variation rather than relying entirely on basic words. However, several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “proprtion,” “aquired,” “Whareas,” and “upto.” Some collocations are also unnatural: “adults accounted the most proprtion” and “Childrens and adult fiction aquired the highest” would be clearer as “adults made up the largest proportion” and “children’s and adult fiction each accounted for the largest share.” More accurate spelling and natural chart-description phrases would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, and the response is generally understandable. For example, the overview combines several comparisons, and you use a relative clause in “which went upto almost 18,000.” However, grammatical errors occur across the response and sometimes make relationships unclear. Examples include “a local library members,” “adults accounted the most,” “adults library members were the most,” and “the total number of loans were.” There are also tense and sentence-structure problems in “in last three years it goes up” and “following a up pattern.” Aim for consistent past-tense reporting, correct subject–verb agreement, and complete sentence structures. For instance, write “the total number of loans was” and “loans then rose steadily.”
