Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover all three visuals and identify the main patterns: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, fiction leads the loan categories, and total loans rise overall. The figures you give for the age groups and the two leading loan categories match the data. You also correctly identify adult non-fiction as the next-largest category. However, the overview that loans “sharply increase” is too broad: the total rises from about 15,700 to 21,700, but fluctuates after the initial increase. The statement that the four smaller categories total 11% is accurate, though their individual shares are not reported. To strengthen the response, describe the loan trend more precisely and include a key turning point or fluctuation from the line chart.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction and overview are followed by details about membership and loan categories, with the trend mentioned at the end. This makes the information generally easy to follow. However, the line-chart discussion is not developed in its own clear sequence, and the final sentence repeats the overview rather than adding specific evidence. Some linking is mechanical or awkward, particularly “While” at the start of a sentence and “However” joining two closely related category comparisons. Paragraphing and clearer transitions could help distinguish the three visuals and show how the figures relate. For example, group the membership figures together, then compare the loan shares, and finish with the rise and fluctuations in annual loans.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “members,” “loan category,” “percentages,” and “gradually increased,” and the main meaning is usually clear. There are also attempts at more precise descriptions, such as “largest share” and “second large amount.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “amount of loans,” “same number of loans” for percentages, and “figure was contribute” do not express the data cleanly. Spelling and form errors such as “Ageof” and “Adlt” also reduce accuracy. Aim for standard chart language and consistent terms, such as “proportion of members,” “share of loans,” and “total loans,” while checking spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including an overview with “Overall” and a comparison using “while.” The main information remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Adults(18-64) figure was contribute” has an incorrect verb construction, and “The number of loans was sharply increase” uses the wrong verb form. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “the Adult non-fiction is a second large amount” and the comma splice before “However.” Improve control by using straightforward patterns such as “The figure for adults aged 18–64 was 51%” and “Loans increased sharply,” then check punctuation and agreement in each sentence.
