Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover all three visuals and give a relevant overview: adults aged 18–64 are the largest membership group, fiction leads borrowing, and loans rise overall despite fluctuations. The comparison of children’s and adult fiction at 38% each is accurate. However, several details are misreported: the age figures for young adults and older adults are reversed or inaccurate (15 and 13 rather than 15 and 12, respectively), and the loan total at the end is closer to 21,700 than 21,000. The statement that “the five category” of younger fiction loans fluctuates is unclear and unsupported; the chart gives category shares for one year, not a trend. Develop the loan trend with key turning points and report the category breakdown more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs addressing the age and loan information. This helps the reader identify the main topics. However, progression within the body is uneven, and some transitions do not clarify the relationship between ideas. For example, “Another” introduces the loan categories awkwardly, while “By contrast” does not establish a clear contrast. The final paragraph repeats that loans fluctuated but does not explain the pattern. Group the information more deliberately—for example, membership figures and category shares in one paragraph, followed by the decade-long loan trend—and use linking phrases to show comparisons or changes accurately. Clearer referencing would also make the discussion easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “age distribution,” “proportions,” “category,” and “fluctuations,” and the overview communicates the broad trends. However, word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning difficult to interpret. Phrases such as “geting membership,” “the five category of younger fiction loans,” and “those all are happend” are not natural or precise descriptions of the data. There are also misspellings such as “respectevely” and “flactuating.” Aim for accurate collocations used in chart reports, such as “accounted for,” “the share of loans,” and “the total number of loans stood at.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise nouns will improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the opening overview is generally clear. However, many sentences in the body contain errors in tense, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “Children use to read book from library was 22” does not form a clear grammatical statement, and “2007 were almost 15500” uses an incorrect verb form. The sentence beginning “The dnumber of loans taken from…” also lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “At the end of 2016 were around 21000” is missing a subject. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, such as “The number of loans stood at…” Use past-tense forms consistently when describing the 2007–2016 data.
