Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart illustrates proportion of library members by age while table chart provides information regarding total loan percentage by 7 categories. At last, the bar chart presents total amount of loan taken throughout the period from 2007 to 2016.
Overall, it is immediately clear that around half of the library members were were of age 18 to 64 in 2016 while adults of age 65 and above were lowest. Furthermore, children's fiction and adult fiction held more loan in total than any other category. Meanwhile, total number of loans taken fluctuated throughout the period and peaked in last year.
In 2016, the adult members of age 18-64 achieved the highest number at 51. In contrast, adults of age 65 and above were only at 12. Children accupied around one quater with 22 members below it were young adults between 13 to 17 with 15 members.
Likewise in 2016, children's fiction and adult fiction both attained the highest loan at 38% each. Second came adult non fiction category at 13%. Children's non fiction was at 6%. Both young adults and adult audio books had the same ratio at 2%. The children's dvd's occupied the last spot with only 1% share of total loan. The bar chart shows in 2007 total number of loans were slightly above 15,000. This number kept in increasing till 2011 up to roughly 21,000 after while it observed a slight dip reaching 2013 and fell below 20,000. This number again observed a dramatic increase and in 2016 reached almost 22,000.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response covers all three visuals and gives a clear overview of the main features: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, fiction leads the loan categories, and loans peak at the end of the period. Most figures are accurately reported, including the 51% adult membership share, the matching 38% fiction shares, and the approximate loan totals. The account also makes relevant comparisons between age groups and loan categories. To strengthen the report further, describe the loan trend with more precision: it rises overall but fluctuates, and the 2016 figure is about 21,700 rather than simply “almost 22,000.” The claim of a “dramatic increase” after 2013 is somewhat overstated, as the rise is gradual. Overall, the key information is selected and supported, though a few descriptions are generalised.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, then details about membership, loan categories and annual loans. This makes the three visuals easy to identify, and transitions such as “In contrast” and “Likewise” help signal comparisons. However, the final paragraph combines the category data and the time-series description, making it long and less clearly organised. Some linking is mechanical, particularly the repeated “This number” and “In 2016.” There is also a confusing sequence in “Children accupied around one quater with 22 members below it were young adults,” where the relationship between the groups is unclear. Use separate paragraphs for the pie chart and table, and make references explicit to improve progression and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “fluctuated,” “peaked,” “category,” and “share.” These choices help communicate comparisons and trends. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “table chart,” “achieved the highest number,” “held more loan,” and “observed a dramatic increase.” Spelling errors in “accupied,” “quater,” and “non fiction” also reduce precision. Some expressions are repeated, especially “total number of loans” and “This number.” Aim for standard chart-reporting phrases such as “accounted for,” “stood at,” and “rose to,” and check spelling and compound forms. This would make the vocabulary more precise and natural without requiring unnecessarily complex wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
There is some variety in sentence forms, including contrast clauses and longer sentences, and the main meaning is generally clear. However, grammatical errors occur in several places. The opening omits an article in “illustrates proportion,” while “members were were” contains an accidental repetition. In “the adult members … achieved the highest number at 51,” the sentence structure does not clearly express the figure, and “This number kept in increasing” uses an incorrect verb pattern. The sentence beginning “Children accupied around one quater” also has unclear clause construction. Use simpler, controlled structures when reporting figures—for example, “Adults aged 18–64 accounted for 51% of members”—and proofread for agreement, articles, verb patterns and repeated words. More consistently accurate sentences would improve control.
