Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover all three visuals and identify several important features, including the largest membership group (adults aged 18–64), the equal 38% shares for children’s and adult fiction, and the rise in total loans from 2007 to 2016. However, some details are inaccurate: young adults account for 2% of loans, not 13%, and the opening claim that children’s fiction was “on the top” is unclear because it shares the highest proportion with adult fiction. The loan trend is also oversimplified: it rises overall but fluctuates, including a dip after 2011. The overview is present but does not clearly summarise the main patterns across all charts. Report the key comparisons accurately and describe the trend’s fluctuations as well as its overall direction.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response is divided into paragraphs that broadly separate the introduction, membership figures, loan categories and yearly totals, so the reader can identify which visual is being discussed. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and the opening mixes a chart description with a detail about loan categories. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “and then” and “Also” are used, but they do not always show precise relationships; the final sentence about future increases is speculative rather than a summary of the data. Some references, such as “This tables data” and “the graph data,” are vague. Organise the report in a clearer sequence—overview first, then membership and loan categories, followed by the time trend—and use specific references to each visual.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “members,” “loans,” “fiction,” “non-fiction” and “increased,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, such as “on the top,” “comparatively too much low” and “data of loans taken.” Repetition of “data” and “demonstrates” also makes the report less precise. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “demnostrates,” “chlidren,” “membor” and “yonung,” which can distract the reader. Aim for accurate chart-reporting language and vary the verbs used to describe proportions and trends. Proofreading spelling and choosing natural collocations would make your meaning clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction. For example, “they both was on the top” should use a plural verb, while “the 2016 is on the top” has an unnecessary article and an unclear noun phrase. In “51% of adults … are the membor,” the structure is awkward and the percentage relationship is not expressed cleanly. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, particularly around sentence boundaries. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine ideas with accurate clauses; check subject–verb agreement and use of articles before submitting.
