Student answer (Band 5.0)

The graph illustrate about the information of little chalfont library and compares the number of loans year wise. As the ratio shows that the adults were more interested in library. There were varieties of loan's category in which children's fiction, adult fiction and adult non-fiction were the major categories having more ratio, but children's fiction was the most demanded one amoung them. As if we compare the year 2007 and 2016, there is a huge progress as only around 16000 loans were lend in 2008 but is 2016 about 23000 loans were recorded. So a positive results are withdrawn if comparison is made. But if we talk the books which were not demanded as much the others as a category children's dvd, around only 1% of people have lend this category. Also adults above 65 years old have the most least membership of the library. Because young people need to focus on studies so most of the members of library are middle age people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several relevant features, including the dominance of adults among members, the high shares for children’s and adult fiction, and the small proportion for children’s DVDs. However, the response only partially summarises the charts: it gives no clear overview of the loan trend across the full period and omits key membership figures and most category comparisons. Some details are inaccurate or unsupported: the highest membership group is adults aged 18–64, not simply “middle age people,” and the loan total rises from about 15,700 in 2007 to about 21,700 in 2016, rather than the figures and year pairing stated. The claim that children’s fiction is the most demanded category is also not supported, as it ties with adult fiction at 38%. Prioritise accurate overview statements and select representative data.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response includes a sequence of related observations, and phrases such as “if we compare” and “also” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the information is presented as one continuous paragraph without a clear progression through the three charts. The opening does not establish an overview, and the discussion jumps from membership to loan categories, then to yearly totals and back to membership. Several linking expressions are awkward or unclear, including “As if we compare” and “So a positive results are withdrawn,” which make the relationships between points difficult to follow. Organise the response into an introduction and overview, followed by focused detail paragraphs, and use links that accurately signal comparison or contrast.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “ratio,” “categories,” “membership,” and “recorded,” and the reader can generally identify the chart features you mean. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “loan’s category,” “most demanded,” and “positive results are withdrawn” do not express the intended ideas naturally. “Ratio” is also not the best term for percentages or proportions, and “lend” is used where “borrow” or “loan” is needed. Spelling errors such as “amoung” and inconsistent capitalisation of “Little Chalfont” reduce accuracy. Build a more precise range for describing charts—especially “accounted for,” “share,” “rose,” and “remained”—and check spelling and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer structures, for example the sentence beginning “As if we compare the year 2007 and 2016,” and you use clauses with “because.” However, the range is limited and complex attempts are often faulty. The opening has subject–verb disagreement (“The graph illustrate”), while “As the ratio shows that” is an incomplete construction. Other problems include “only around 16000 loans were lend in 2008 but is 2016,” where the passive verb form and clause structure are incorrect, and “adults above 65 years old have the most least membership,” which has an incorrect comparative construction. Use shorter, complete sentences first, then practise accurate comparisons and past-tense reporting, with careful articles, agreement, and punctuation.
