Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify several relevant features, including adults aged 18–64 as the largest membership group (51%), the equal 38% shares for children’s and adult fiction, and children’s DVDs as the smallest loan category. However, the response only partially covers the charts: the loans trend is mentioned as “fluctuating” but not described with its main movement or figures, and the final discussion is cut off. The overview is also limited, with little comparison across the full period or categories. The response contains 128 words, below the required 150, so there is not enough development to report the key information fully. Add a concise account of the loans rising overall from about 15,700 to 21,700, with intermediate changes, and complete the final paragraph.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation: an opening, an overview, and separate discussion of membership and loan categories. This gives the reader a general sense of the response’s structure. However, progression is limited because the final paragraph begins to discuss the total loans and then stops at “on the other hand, the totral nu,” leaving the time-series chart unexplained. Connections between points are also sometimes awkward or repetitive, particularly the repeated contrast markers “In contrast” and “on the other hand.” Use clear paragraphs for each chart, group related comparisons together, and use linking phrases only where they express a genuine contrast or addition. A complete final paragraph describing the trend would make the organisation more coherent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant chart vocabulary, such as “proportion,” “highest,” “category,” and “fluctuating,” and the main comparisons are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, including “highest value in age library members,” “highest proportion of loan,” and “same” where “equal” or “the same share” would be more natural. Spelling errors such as “mmembers,” “approximatelly,” “loweastt,” and “totral” are noticeable and reduce clarity. Aim for precise terms such as “share,” “accounted for,” and “loan total,” and proofread carefully. Avoid repeating “highest” by varying descriptions of the largest group or category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate several basic comparisons, and some sentence patterns are attempted, including “In contrast” and “Young adults and adults 65 and over are approximately same.” However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts difficult to follow. Examples include “The children's fiction are” (subject–verb agreement), “The total number of loans are fluctuating” (agreement and tense), and “adults that age from 18 to 64” (unclear relative clause). Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “are approximatelly same” and the unfinished final sentence. Use accurate simple structures first—for example, “Adults aged 18–64 made up 51% of members”—then add a few controlled complex sentences. Check agreement, articles, and punctuation before submitting.
