Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You cover all three visuals and identify the main patterns: adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, fiction accounts for the greatest share of loans, and annual loans remain broadly stable. You also support these points with relevant figures, including the 51% adult membership share and the 38% shares for both fiction categories. Most reported values match the chart. The overview could be more precise: adults aged 65 and over are the smallest membership group, while children’s DVDs alone have the lowest loan share; audio books and young-adult loans are also low, but not the lowest. Your account of the loan trend is useful, though it would be stronger if it highlighted the overall rise from about 15,700 to 21,700 as well as the fluctuations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the membership and loan data. This makes the information easy to locate, and sequencing the annual figures chronologically helps the reader follow the trend. You also use linking expressions such as “Overall,” “The ratio,” and “Next.” However, some connections are mechanical or unclear, particularly the repeated “The ratio” phrasing and the long final sequence of yearly changes. The overview groups several comparisons together without clearly distinguishing the membership chart from the loan categories. To strengthen progression, organise each body paragraph around one visual and use more precise references, such as “this share” or “the annual total,” where the meaning is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for describing charts, with relevant terms such as “proportion,” “categories,” “fluctuate,” and “increased.” You also use some appropriate comparison language, including “largest,” “smallest,” and “doubled.” However, several choices are imprecise or repetitive: “ratio” is used for percentages, “high percentage of loan” is awkward, and “amount of total number of loans” is unnecessarily wordy. “Old adults” is not a natural label for the 65-and-over group, and “fictions” should be expressed as “fiction” or “fiction loans.” These choices do not prevent understanding, but more accurate collocations and a wider range of chart-reporting verbs would make the description more precise and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “which” and “then,” and the main comparisons are generally understandable. However, some errors recur in agreement, articles, and verb forms. For example, “the higher proportion of adults are” has a singular subject, while “The total number of loan are” also has incorrect agreement and number. “The total number of loans fluctuate” should use a singular verb, and “almost remain same” needs an appropriate verb form and article. The sentence beginning “The ratio of members of library for children…” also has an awkward grammatical structure. Aim for consistently controlled subject–verb agreement and complete verb phrases, while varying sentence patterns without making them overly long.
