Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the three visuals and include relevant headline features: adults aged 18–64 are the largest membership group, and loans peak in 2016. You also correctly report the 38% shares for children’s fiction and adult fiction, and the 1% figure for children’s DVDs. However, the overview is incomplete: it does not mention that the loan total generally rose over the period, despite fluctuations, or that the two fiction categories jointly dominate borrowing. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: the age chart is described as having four “parts” without reporting the figures, and the 2016 total is given as around 21,000 rather than approximately 21,700. More precise comparisons and coverage of the main patterns would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to category details and then the loan graph. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression within paragraphs is limited: the second paragraph combines membership and loan trends without clearly separating the overview points, while the third mostly describes the charts rather than comparing their data. Linking phrases such as “Firstly” and “In the graph” are repetitive and sometimes mechanical, and “In the other hand” does not express the intended contrast clearly. Use a more purposeful paragraph plan—overview first, then grouped comparisons—and connect related figures with clear references such as “by contrast” or “similarly”.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “age group,” “percentage,” “category,” and “total number of loans,” so the subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings reduce precision: “lones” is repeated instead of “loans,” “processed” is unsuitable for describing borrowing, and “highest age group” is less accurate than “largest age group.” There are also repeated forms such as “the highest” and “the least,” and “image” is used where “chart” or “visual” would be more appropriate. Build a wider set of accurate terms for describing proportions and trends, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the main message can usually be followed. However, some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation remain. For example, “The given three image illustrates” has a number-agreement problem, while “the all parts is indicate” combines an incorrect determiner with faulty verb structure. The sentence beginning “In the other hand” also lacks a clear grammatical connection to the previous point. Capitalisation and spacing after full stops are inconsistent, as in “chalfont. This” and “Overall,Around.” Aim for controlled sentence patterns first: use accurate subject–verb agreement, form complete clauses, and punctuate each sentence clearly before attempting longer constructions.
