Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main subject and report several relevant figures, including the 38% shares for both fiction categories and the 13% for adult non-fiction. However, the age data contains a significant misreading: children account for 22%, but you assign 22% to young adults, whose actual share is 15%. The overview is also incomplete because it does not describe the loans trend from 2007 to 2016, which rises overall from about 15,700 to 21,700, despite fluctuations. Your final claim that children borrowed “a lot” is not clearly supported by the category breakdown, and the response does not fully summarise all the charts. Select the key patterns accurately and include a concise overview of the time-series chart to develop the report more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response follows a basic sequence, moving from member ages to loan categories and then to a concluding comment. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “The table” signal a change of focus. However, the information is presented as one continuous paragraph, and there is no clear progression through all three visual elements: the loans-over-time chart is omitted. Some links are awkward or unclear, particularly “Overall although children were a small part of the mwmbers they borroerd a lot of the books,” where the relationship between the figures is not established. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and key details, and connect comparisons explicitly so the report develops logically rather than reading as a list.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “members,” “total loans,” “popular,” and “smallest group,” which helps communicate the basic comparisons. However, the range is limited and several spelling errors reduce accuracy, such as “imformation,” “youung,” “mwmbers,” and “borroerd.” Some phrases are imprecise or unnatural, including “borrowed only the 2%” and “the library of the mainly used by the adults.” Use standard chart-reporting expressions and precise terms for proportions and categories. For example, describe a category as “accounted for 2% of loans” rather than saying borrowers “borrowed the 2%.” More accurate spelling and collocation would make your comparisons clearer and more appropriate to an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Most sentences are short and use simple patterns, so the range of structures is limited. There are frequent errors in sentence formation and agreement, for example “The table is show total loans by category,” “Both the 38% of total loans,” and “The library of the mainly used by the adult s.” The comparison “They were more then half of all members” also lacks a clear grammatical link to the preceding sentence. Although you attempt a longer sentence beginning “Overall although…,” its clauses are not punctuated or connected accurately. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, agreement, and punctuation. A few accurate complex sentences would help express comparisons and trends more effectively.
