Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover all three visuals and identify several important features: adults form the largest membership group, fiction accounts for the largest loan shares, and loans rise overall across the period. The category figures are mostly reported accurately, including the 38% shares for both fiction categories and the small DVD share. However, some details are misread or unclear: the smallest membership group is adults aged 65 and over at 12%, not young adults, and the line chart does not show a steady rise to 2011; it fluctuates, reaching about 21,000 in 2011 before later changes. Your overview captures the broad picture, but the trend description needs greater precision to show the full pattern.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and separate discussion of the membership/category data and loan trend. This gives the reader a coherent overall arrangement. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly in “Whenever young and adult 65 over people are use library very few people to visit 12% to 15%,” where the comparison is unclear. Linking words such as “Overall,” “However” and “In contrast” help signal relationships, but some are used mechanically or do not express the relationship accurately. Group related figures more clearly and use direct comparisons—for example, state that adults aged 18–64 account for 51%, compared with 12% for those aged 65 and over.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “share,” “percentage,” “proportion,” “fiction” and “total number of loans,” so the main subject is generally understandable. There is also an attempt to describe change with “increasing” and “rose.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “library using by ages,” “very few people to visit” and “rose shapely.” Spelling errors such as “libarary” and inconsistent forms such as “DVD's” also reduce precision. Aim for standard chart language and accurate collocations, such as “membership by age group,” “accounted for” and “rose sharply.” This would make the comparisons clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “While” and an overview beginning “Overall.” However, control is uneven, and errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles and punctuation sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “The pie chart and table provides” has subject–verb disagreement, while “the adults use public library had highest share” combines incompatible verb forms and omits necessary articles. The sentence beginning “Whenever young and adult 65 over people are use library” is also difficult to interpret because of its structure. Practise building accurate comparison sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check punctuation after introductory linking words.
