Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The charts illustrate the information about the members of Little Chalfont library while piechart shows the proportion of the age of library members and barchart indicates the total number of loans taken from 2007 to 2016.
Overall, the highest number in piechart is 51%, which belongs to the adults members (18-64) of the library. In contrast, the 65 aged or above has the lowest percentage which is 12. However, children's number was recorded 22% and and young adults were 15%.
Furthermore, Children's and adult fiction were same with 38% in loan category. However, children's DVDs recorded the lowest percentage in overall proportion. if we look at the table, young adults and adult audio books were also at the same position with 2%.
In addition, while comparing the number loans in bar chart then we can cleary see that 2016 was at highest point with nearly 21,000 loans while 2007 was at the lowest point with 20,000 loans. In contrast, the number of laons fluctuated from 2008 to 2015.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover all three visuals and identify several relevant features, including the largest membership group (adults aged 18–64), the equal 38% shares for children’s and adult fiction, and the low share for children’s DVDs. However, some figures are misreported: the age values are percentages, not “numbers,” and the 2007 loan total was about 15,700, not 20,000. The 2016 total was about 21,700, rather than nearly 21,000. You also describe the 2008–2015 trend only as fluctuating, without reporting its overall rise or key changes. A clearer overview of the loan trend and more accurate comparisons would make the response more complete and better supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of the loan categories and yearly totals. This makes the information generally easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Furthermore,” and “In addition” help signal progression, but some transitions are mechanical or do not establish a clear comparison; for example, “In contrast” is used where the relationship between the figures is not really contrasting. The overview also mixes specific figures with general statements, and the final paragraph does not explain the pattern behind the fluctuations. Grouping the information more deliberately and using clearer references to each chart would strengthen the progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “recorded,” “category,” and “fluctuated,” so the main information is usually understandable. However, several word choices and collocations are awkward or imprecise, such as “the highest number in piechart,” “adults members,” and “the number loans.” Repetition of “percentage” and “number” also limits precision. There are spelling errors in “cleary” and “laons,” and “bar chart” is not the best label for the visual, which is a line graph. Aim for accurate, natural phrases for describing shares and trends, and check spelling and chart terminology before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “while” and “if,” and the overall meaning can generally be followed. Some grammatical errors remain, however. For example, “children's number was recorded 22%” lacks a suitable structure, while “the 65 aged or above has” has an unclear subject and agreement. The sentence beginning “In addition, while comparing…” is also awkwardly constructed, and the lowercase “if” after a full stop shows a punctuation and capitalisation problem. Work on forming accurate comparisons (for example, “the share of children was 22%”) and check articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries.
