Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover the main components by describing the membership profile and the loan trend, and your overview identifies fiction as the largest loan category and notes fluctuation over time. However, the overview is incomplete: it omits the key comparison that adults aged 18–64 form the largest membership group, and it does not report the category percentages in the body. There are also important data errors: young adults account for 15%, not 22%, and members aged 65 and over account for 12%, not 15%. The loan trend is broadly captured, but the total peaks at about 21,700 in 2016, not 23,000. More accurate figures and fuller coverage of the category breakdown would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of membership and loans. This makes the information easy to follow, and transitions such as “Regarding total number of loan” signal a change of topic. The chronological account of loans also gives the reader a sense of progression. However, the overview and body do not connect all the chart information: the category percentages are not developed after being mentioned, and the membership paragraph moves through figures without a clear comparison or grouping. Some linking words, including repeated “However” and “Furthermore,” feel mechanical. Grouping related figures and using more precise comparisons would strengthen the progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “increased steadily,” “remained same,” “decreased gradually,” and “highest,” which helps describe changes over time. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “took most debt” and “amount of debt” do not describe library loans, while “the fewer amount” is not an appropriate expression. “Total figure of loans” is repeated, and “the amount gradually increased” is less precise than language referring to loan totals. There are also spelling and form issues, such as “Intially” and “2103.” Aim for accurate terms such as “accounted for,” “share of loans,” and “number of loans,” and vary the wording without sacrificing precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex forms, including a contrastive opening with “While” and time clauses such as “which increased steadily to almost 18,000.” The main meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur. Subject–verb agreement is incorrect in “51% of adults … was the members” and “22% of children was the member”; the plural subject requires “were members.” The sentence beginning “In 2012 and 2013 figure decreased gradually reached…” lacks a clear grammatical link between the actions, and “remained same” is missing an article. Capitalisation and punctuation also need attention, particularly the comma splice after “Little Chalfont” and inconsistent sentence openings. Check agreement, articles, and clause connections when editing.
