Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify several important features: adults form the largest membership group, the two fiction categories each account for 38% of loans, and total borrowing rises overall across the period. These points are relevant and your overview gives the response a clear central message. However, some details are incomplete or unclear. The age figures are percentages, but the response does not report the 22% of children or 15% of young adults, and it describes the 12% aged 65 and over without clearly contrasting all groups. The loan trend also fluctuates rather than rising steadily, and the final figure is about 21,700, not a count of people. More precise reporting of the chart’s units and key changes would make the coverage more complete and developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph with supporting details. The overview usefully brings together membership and borrowing, and phrases such as “Overall” and “It can be seen” help signal the stages of the report. This gives the information a coherent overall arrangement. However, the final paragraph combines age data, category shares, and the time series without a clear sequence, so comparisons are difficult to follow. Some references are also unclear: “the number of people” refers to loans, while “at the end of the year 2016” is awkwardly connected to the peak. Group the age and category figures separately from the annual trend, and use clearer links between comparisons to improve progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “comprised,” “constitute,” “peaked,” and “trend.” These choices show an attempt to describe proportions and changes rather than relying only on basic words. Meaning is generally recoverable, but inaccurate word choice and spelling reduce precision. “People borrow different book items” is not an accurate way to describe the total number of loans, and “items” is repeatedly misspelled as “iteams.” “Highest proportion” is also more natural than “highest porportion,” while “borrowed items” or “loans” would be clearer than “borrowed items from library.” Aim for accurate collocations and vary repeated wording; this would make the report more precise and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex forms, including the contrast in “while adults over 65 year old comprised 12%” and the longer sentence describing the 2016 figure. The main ideas can usually be understood, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “adults were accounted for highest proportion” needs an article and a more suitable construction, and “adults over 65 year old” has a number-agreement problem. In “the number of people that borrow … peaked,” the relative clause uses an inconsistent tense and the subject is incorrectly described as people. The final sentence is also difficult to control because several ideas are joined together. Check articles, plural forms, and consistent past-tense reporting, and divide long sentences where needed.
