Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response identifies relevant features of the charts, including the largest membership group (adults aged 18–64, at 51%), children at 22%, and the smaller shares for older adults and young adults. However, it does not summarise all the information: the 2016 loan categories are omitted, and the trend in total loans is only partly described. The statement that loans were “no more higher and no more lower” does not capture the overall rise from about 15,700 in 2007 to 21,700 in 2016, with fluctuations in between. The account also ends before completing its point about 2016. The response is 29 words below the required minimum, which contributes to its limited coverage. Include a clear overview and report the main patterns across all three visuals.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response: the first paragraph discusses membership ages, and the next turns to loan totals. This gives the reader some sense of topic progression. However, the response is very short and the ideas within each paragraph are not developed into a clear summary. Linking phrases such as “As we can see” and “But” are used, but they do not establish precise relationships between the figures. The final sentence breaks off at “and in 2016 it,” leaving the trend unfinished. Use separate, complete paragraphs for the overview and key details, and connect comparisons explicitly—for example, contrast the largest and smallest membership groups before describing the loan trend.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “adults,” “percent,” “loans,” and “number,” so the main subject can generally be recognised. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the description unclear, such as “the chart issulatre,” “starting face,” and “we sheens.” Phrases such as “cover more then the half percent of circle” are not natural ways to describe a chart; “account for just over half of members” would be more precise. Repetition of “we seens” also limits flexibility. Build a small set of accurate chart-reporting expressions, including “account for,” “rise,” “fluctuate,” and “reach,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is inconsistent. For example, “The total numbers of loans … graphs shows” has problems with number agreement, while “in 2007 it become 15000 loans are passed” combines verb forms in a way that obscures the intended meaning. Articles and sentence boundaries are also unreliable, as in “the details of public library” and the unfinished final sentence ending “and in 2016 it.” Most sentences therefore require the reader to work out the intended relationships. Practise complete subject–verb structures and past-tense reporting, such as “The number of loans rose from about 15,700 in 2007 to 21,700 in 2016.” Use full stops to ensure each sentence expresses a complete idea.
